Lea Grant is going into the studio to make her first full length record, Cities of Snow!
Hey there! I'm Lea Grant. I am a San Francisco based songwriter, originally from Los Angeles. With your help, I will be able to go into the studio to make my first full length album, Cities of Snow. I feel proud of all of the hard work & play that my band and I have put into creating this music. I can't wait to share the songs with you all polished up.
Recording is an unspeakably rewarding process and it is also an expensive endeavor. This is where I need your help.
I'm setting the kickstarter goal at $7000 because with that amount we will still be able to record a 6 song EP if we are not able to raise the full $9000 that we would need to record a 10 song album.
This would still be so awesome!
So, here's the deal. The way kickstarter works is that you donate funds to enable the completion of a creative project, and in return you receive cool rewards, unique to the project. You are essentially acting as a patron of the arts. (=
The catch is that if we do not reach our goal, we get zero. We won't be able to make the album.
Your contribution will cover the awesome cost of:
- awesome recording studio rental
- fantastic recording engineer/producer
- monster studio musicians (bass, guitar, horns, strings)
- peachy-keen piano tuning
- amazing mastering
- mindblowing album artwork and pressing copies of the actual physical album
That all comes out to a grand total of about $9000
Please consider supporting this project by donating what you can. If you are unable to contribute monetarily, sharing this kickstarter page within your community is a wonderful alternative . Email, youtube, twitter and facebook are all great ways to help us get the word out and reach our goal.
Thank you so much!
About the album:
Cities of Snow is a collection of songs written over the past 3 years, many of which evoke the innocence & playfulness of being a little kid, hampered and sometimes stamped out by the inevitable stampede of adult responsibilities. Others indulge in a milieu of adult emotions. The common thread among the songs is an exploration of the ever-shifting balance between healthy self-love & loving others and how that all relates to integrity. I also really wanted to acknowledge that everything we create in our lives has a purpose. All of the "positive" and "negative" behaviors, jobs, etc... all serve a function at some point. It is when we begin to recognize them as being a hindrance that we have outgrown them. This album was inspired by and aims to illuminate this transition, as I have observed it both in myself and in my friends and intimates.
Musically, "Cities of Snow" is a delectable melting pot of genres, if snow water is delectable. The album is rooted in folk rock, and mixes in hints of jazz, pop, swing, gospel with a little pinch of hipster just in case. If this project gets funded (Thank you!) instrumentation for the album will include 3-4 part vocal harmonies, piano, rhodes, organ, bass, drums, flute, ukulele, strings & things... Ideally, recorded to tape, for the warmest sound possible. If you would like to preview the album, there are live recordings of most of the songs on theutah.org & SoundCloud.
We are super-excited to get into the studio and record a great album for you!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AND CONSIDERATION!
