My first solo electronica dance album: kirtan with house & tribal trance grooves
We are very excited to announce our kickstarter campaign for our new 'Kirtronica' album that was launched March 22 on the new moon in Libra.
Kickstarter is an awesome program created for artists to help raise funds for their creative endeavors. We have 30 days (ending April 21st) to raise $10,000 for our album project.
We would love to have your support! Anything will help us reach our goal. There are some nice rewards for each level of contribution; things like tickets to our events, CDs, private lessons and workshops, and even my harmonium! (see more on right)
My new 'Kirtronica' album is an electronica dance creation emerging from the heart and mind of the feminine - a shamanic journey lit up by the brilliance of Sanskrit mantra and ecstatic potency of the Divine Names. Since the days of my former band 'Lost at Last' (1997-2004) I have been composing and refining this music. And now I am ready to see it to fruition!
So what is 'Kirtronica' you might ask? 'Kirtronica' is a term for a new genre of music that is currently being established in the yoga world which combines electronic dance music and Sanskrit/Indian chanting.
This new album will have a mixture of beats - mostly house and tribal trance (ranging from 105-130bpm) with some slower chill tempos - all with a soft edge and expansive soundscapes to inspire cosmic consciousness and deep meditation.
All of the vocals are being recorded here in my home studio. I sing lead vocals while Ananda sings harmonies and responses. There will be 8 tracks when complete, ranging from 6-11 minutes each. I will periodically post rough mixes on my website so you can hear what it sounds like. www.jayalakshmi.net
What's extra exciting about this project is that I am working with an awesome producer named Asher Fulero. He is an Ableten Live maestro as well as a keyboard and electronica wizard. My plan is to develop the tracks to a near-finished point then pass them on to Asher to add his special magic.
We also have an amazing graphic artist lined up for the cover art. Check out her visionary art!! Victoria Brenner
Then, more exciting news - the album already has a home! It will be released on Sounds True Records next Spring/Summer 2013. That may seem like a long time away but this is a very detailed project. This gives us a good amount of time for advanced promotion and to make it just right.
We're scheduled to deliver them the finished master by the end of the year. Your financial support is crucial for its' completion. It will take me and Ananda hundreds of hours to create, arrange, record vocals and instruments as well as mix the tracks.
We'd like to feel we can relax into our creativity and that some of our bills will be covered. Your contributions will also support Asher and Victoria in their creative mastery. We are estimating our total costs at a minimum of $10,000. We figured that's a good place to start.
We are so grateful for your help in making this vision a reality.
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.
