About

       REDEFINING WELL-DRESSED.

Prototype T-Shirt modeled by the founder.
Prototype T-Shirt modeled by the founder.

Minimal. Classy. Outspoken. In the video you just watched, you learned about the company behind the new t-shirt line, and the inspiration for the t-shirts. Now, we'd like to move the spotlight to the project itself:  Black T-Shirt Campaign is launching a meticulously designed line of t-shirts, individually screen-printed at home using a photo-emulsion process for utmost accuracy. One of our favorite parts? They're ethically made. Our goal is to create a line of T-Shirts so clean-cut, sophisticated, and classy that you'll want to wear them everywhere - while giving you a conscience so clear, you'll feel good about doing so.

One thing missing from America's mainstream shopping experience is a line of apparel that speaks for our hearts as well as our bodies. We want to be a premier provider of a line that will make you proud of how you look (and what you stand for.)

When Black T-Shirt Campaign decided to turn from its cause to your closets, we wanted to make sure we did it in style. We are minimalist enthusiasts, enamored by svelte lettering and raw lines. From developing a logo that was equal parts sharp, fresh, and intimate to selecting  and testing the perfect t-shirt wholesaler to provide us with the ideal cut and fabric to flatter every body-type, no angle was over-looked in the development of our product.

Our t-shirts are made by American Apparel, a sweat-shop free retailer/wholesaler, and screen-printed one at a time by the founder and her team. Because each print will be done individually, by hand, small variations in texturing should be both expected and coveted. We fell in love with the nuanced shades and tiny irregularities that make each shirt  bold and commanding! We will offer them in Men's sizes XS - XXL and Women's sizes XXS - XXL.

We need to raise $5,500 in order to launch:

  • $3,560 will be used to manufacture and ship the t-shirts to us, so we can screen-print them
  • $1,140 will be used to reimburse the founder for time off from her day-job at Trader Joe's, so she can dedicate time to silk-screening.
  • $800 will be used to purchase ink, pay Kickstarter and Amazon, and work on your rewards

              STRETCH GOALS

If Black T-Shirt Campaign raises more than the $5,500 minimum to launch - depending on how much more - we will...

  • Be able to expand the line to include more types of apparel
  • Be able to order more t-shirts for the initial line
  • Begin working on a second season for the Campaign!

Unless we raise far more than expected, Black T-Shirt Campaign is a limited edition, one-season-only line. We will sell through the 660 shirts and then close our doors, project over, mission accomplished! However, if the public response is overwhelming - we may decide to stick around for more seasons, more lines, and more designs!

Risks and challenges

My one primary concern is being able to take off enough time each week from my job in order to fulfill orders as they come. This should only be a problem that crops up if the amount of interest in Black T-Shirt Campaign greatly exceeds what we are currently estimating - and if this is the case, the increased funding we would receive through the extra interest will be able to cover the costs for me to create a few extra screens and get a few extra helpers. Worst comes to worst, the shipping date would be somewhat delayed.
