Where We Started...
In 2010, we started getting together on Saturday mornings to write songs. We weren't a band... just a couple of friends who loved making music together and had a common bond through worship leading. By the end of that year we had several songs that we really loved, and we started asking each other if there was some sort of outlet for us to share these songs with our friends, families, and churches.
And that's when we started The Foresters.
Our goal from the beginning was to create songs that would grow and give life, hopefully long after we are gone. We wanted those songs to be singable as well as theologically sound. We went to our friend Matthew's studio one weekend and recorded everything we had. We intentionally kept it simple, and we had lots of fun. We called that collection Volume One.
Where We Are Now...
Fast-forward to today, and a lot has changed. We no longer live in the same city, so our Saturday morning writing sessions have turned into emails and video chats. We still love writing songs together, but it's been harder to get into a rhythm.
Then came Noisetrade.
On a whim, we made Volume One available through Noisetrade and were immediately met with an unexpected influx of new fans and lots of encouragement. It was the final push we needed to get ourselves into gear for a new album.
So that's why we're here: to invite you to join us in the process of bringing Volume Two to life... we want you to help us plant the seeds for our new batch of songs, and together we can watch them grow.
Our old friend Matthew moved his studio to New Mexico, so we're heading there in September to record. When everything is finished, we are going to package both Volumes onto one CD, so that everything we've ever recorded can be available in one place.
What We Need...
We've set our goal at a modest $5,000 -- this is the minimum we need to cover recording, mixing, mastering, and duplicating the new CDs PLUS our travel expenses and the cost of fulfilling all of your rewards packages.
As you probably know, we don't get any of your money unless we meet our goal (sad trumpet). But the good news is that we can raise MORE than our goal, so any money over $5,000 goal will go towards making this project even better (i.e. videos, better liner notes, marketing & advertising) PLUS funding the very special plans we already have in the works for Volume Three!
Risks and challenges
The biggest obstacle standing in the way of a finished product is the recording, mixing, and mastering process. We have already booked the studio in Albuquerque during September and confirmed our flights. We're working with the same team that produced Volume One, so we're confident that with a fully funded campaign we can fulfill all of the rewards by the end of 2013.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
