I never received my stormfly. Any clue?
If you check their website http://www.nowcomputing.com/ they have some product called gameband for Minecraft right now. However, I doubt they remember their promise about the refund.

I had ordered 2 of the StormFly units that did not work, and I, as well as many other early backers truly understand the issues you had with the supplier, and the lack of a refund from that supplier that should have made everything alright with all the early backers. I believed in your product, and my heart breaks with the outcome of this project and the troubles it has brought to you and all your employees, as well as to myself and all the backers.
In update #38, you had stated "We have restructured our company and are planning on launching another device within 6 months. If we can get ourselves back to a position of being able to offer replacements and take StormFly forward another step we will come back to our early Kickstarter backers and let them know"
How did your restructuring of the company go? Were you able to launch the other device within the 6 months? And how close are you now in taking StormFly forward to that next step? Will StormFly become the great product we believed in in the beginning? Or will this be an overall failure as the StormFly dream dies forever?
Lastly I want to thank you for posting update #20 with the link to the video of Feargal Mac Conuladh, your Founder and CEO, performing Hallelujah ( http://www.youtube.com/watch… ) the passion and emotion in this video makes this one of the Greatest renditions of this song for me. And when I think of the issues caused by the bad supplier here, and the sadness of this projects outcome, or even when life isn't going well for me at times, I go back to this video and watch it once again. And watching this video is what keeps me going and picks my spirit back up and I realize I can make it through tough times. So I just wanted to say Thank You for sharing the video, and I hope everyone that is associated with StormFly (project creators, all employees, and all backers) will someday make it through the tough times and be made whole once again, and StormFly Will, become a household name around the world.

@Doug Just gave this as a gift to my daughter and it doesn't boot (purple screen). Are you making good on this product? Supporting it? Sending replacements?
Dylan. I wouldn't bank on any formal update to 14. Having said that I would be interested to see if there is a way to force it yourself. I have tried but not much luck so far.
Is stormfly going to get updated to Ubuntu 14.04 now that the new LTS is out?

OK, I never received my replacement StormFly's, but today I received some Gameband's in the mail. Is this the "new project"? They look really cool, well boxed, very very nice, the band is a step up, and looks impressive. This looks like it is mainly for Minecraft? Yes/No? Can anyone tell me? Or is it just like StormFly with MineCraft launcher on it? It was a pleasant surprise and I really do appreciate that you kept us in mind and didn't dump us like some of the other "companies" did on Kickstarter. Although I'm missing one :-), I'll live with it! Well done guys, that really earned some respect!

Weird day. I had a pile of "projects" lying around, grabbed some coffee and: the Adblocker works on one of my devices, but not two others, Flomio doesn't work at all with IOS-7, and no luck with the Stormfly.
I started messing with Atom's Toys but the coffee wore off. We'll see what happens there. Perhaps crowd funding is not for me. Not that worried about it, but I was REALLY excited about some of these things. It's kind of like landing a date with the hottest girl around and finding out looks are all she has going for her.
@Fred did you try the upgrade yet?
I have been using the last one I got and it works great. It might be good to ask how many of us are happy with the product - maybe on a survey if they let you do that?

The only issues I have had are with Ubuntu but there are work-arounds, so no worries.
It is really great to be able to have a nice operating system like that on a USB. I see a good future for it.
@andrew - I'm hoping the update will solve the problem of losing access to my account so I'm going to go ahead and do it. I need to use the guest account when it happens, which is a pain. To regain access you have to go to console and access login files with commands. I have heard that 13.04 is also problematic.

I did receive my replacement StormFly key (basically, just the USB device), but after trying it out with the first computer, it didn't work either. Not sure if they just re-sent the old one (it DID have a different color tongue, though) or if I'm just unlucky. I'll probably just hang on to it until we find out if this company is ever coming back from the grave. It seems unlikely, but you never know. I wish them a speedy recovery...
Never received anything (not even the defective unit) from my $90 investment. I reckon that KS should fund an insurance policy that pays out for failures.... or at the very least allow us to rate developers that miss the target (like an ebay score). I an certainly less likely to back this type of KS based on this (and others similar) failures I have experienced.
If anyone, like me actually has a working stormfly have you tried to update the preinstalled distro to Ubuntu 13 at all? I am tempted to try but as a replacement seems unlikely I am cautious.

When can I expect my 2 StormFlys? I got the initial pieces (whcih are not usable) and still waiting to hear from you to replace them. What is the current position on those replacements? Please let me know.
@Roman - If its rusting then you must of got it wet or have a serious damp problem!
Since over 40% of backers have not been able to access a replacment for the 1st faulty one and Now Computing are not currently trading you wont be able to get a replacment.
Did you send the 1st one back as required? If not then carefully bend the 2 or 4 securing metal pieces at the back of the unit down flat, push the internal part back from the USB connection at the front with something flat and non-metalic, carefully pull the unit out.
Repeat on the 2nd unit and swapthe internals around.
The metal case is the same and it will fit, bend the metal clips back up and you should be good.
If you did send the 1st back then you can do the same with pretty much any cheap USB drive that is mounted in something plastic/rubber, the metal case is a pretty standard part. You can even pick a 2GB USB wrist strap up on eBay for a few $ and use the case from that.
I received, the first one, then the second, with the correct chip.
But this is rusting¡¡¡. Please, send me a new one ... and does not rust

@David - As told in the update and in my comments there, there will be no more StormFlys shipping out (even replacments) till Q1 of 2014.

I live in the US and I have yet to hear anything about a replacement. I've contacted them twice now and I haven't heard anything. Is anyone getting a replacement?

Basically the StormFly project is on hold till early next year due to simply running out of money after they were ripped off by the China based supplier.

Hi Sue, I am in Germany and got my replacement weeks ago. I already sent back the old insert and had no problem at all with my StormFly. OK, I have only one and no apple to use with. All my devices where I can boot from USB works fine, most of them already with version 1...
Well unfortunately I also never received the replacement for the 7 stormflys that I bought and now just sit in their box on a shelf. I was under the impression months ago that the replacements were on the way. Did anyone in the US get replacements? Have to say this was an expensive lesson, think I'm done with Kickstarter.
@Anabel: You're the only one. At least myself. My StormFly cannot connect to ANY of my Macbook, or Windows laptop since day one. And I have multiple communication with them, but that was like from MONTHS ago when I first got the StormFly.
Since then, nothing, no replacement AT ALL!
I e-mail them, message them through KS website, NO RESPONSE WHAT SO EVER!
Hi - The first StormFly I received was faulty and now I'm still waiting for the replacement. Can someone give me an update please? Am I the only one still waiting for a replacement StormFly?
Just a guess here, but I'm beginning to think that this effort has died and there's no one left to respond to the comments that have recently been posted. I hope not, but as it's been over a month since the last official reply I think we can make the educated guess that StormFly is either now defunct or has been temporarily shuttered. Just my opinion, hope I'm wrong!

Hi - I got my new stormfly in box and tried to use it, but it does not see my wifi card like the old one did before it crashed. In the "Stormfly Setup" it says there is an "authorization failure". Is there any way to re-do setup on a wired connection? The wired connection seems to work but I am unable to go back to the "register" section of the setup. Any help would be appreciated.
what is the situation with these? I got a "virgin" one a while back but the strap is ridiculously tight - are new ones being made? Sent out? Do we need to individually request one?
What's wrong with them. I haven't received any update since couple months ago.
I have only received promises of a unit for several months now but never actually received a unit.
I am not getting any replies to my recent enquiries, nor are there any updates.

If you are not willing to send a unit you should send me a refund.

@Doug Worple Hope everything is going well. It has been a month since my last check in, and as yet, I still have no received my replacement StormFly. Are you still in the process of shipping the first runs? If they have all been shipped, is there tracking information for those of us still waiting?

I think that these guys go hiding! They sent not working unita, their problem, and now do not reply or give any update. And there are people who were willing to give them extra money...
