Hi y'all! I'm a songwriter based in North Carolina, and in a small but wordy nutshell, I play "harmoniously homegrown and profoundly playful philosopholk for the people and the planet.”
I’m beyond excited to launch this Kickstarter to make recording my next album possible! “Wave of Birdsong” is a collection of songs that honor all the gifts and lessons nature bestows upon us (especially the birds, who are constantly singing as the sun comes up and down all around the world!), while exploring the shadows of being human (on an individual and societal level) that derail us from a state of harmonious equilibrium. “Wave of Birdsong” will have the most cohesive sound yet, not only conceptually, but because unlike my first two albums, patch-worked together on a shoe-string budget with various recording situations, it will be entirely recorded by the very talented audio engineer Kevin Harvey of Griffyn Sound. The funds raised from this Kickstarter will allow me to give full justice to what I believe to be my most powerful and relevant songs yet by spending the time to make them as good as they can possibly sound.
For the past year, I've been playing with an incredibly talented cast of musicians, who have breathed such magic and depth into my songs, filling them with 3-part harmonies, graceful and powerful string arrangements and a dynamic depth and intricacy that takes it a step beyond the typical "folk" or "singer-songwriter" genre. The band includes Mattick Frick (drums), Ryan Kijanka (upright bass), Drayton Aldridge (violin) and Franklin Keel (cello). I'm thrilled to record an entire album with them, and equally thrilled to pay them the rates that they deserve for their time and talent. Here is a sampling of one of the songs, "Full Moon," played live with Ryan and Drayton:
I've already begun the recording process, and hope to finish this summer. But with a handful of hours in the studio that I already owe for and for many many more to come in order to complete it (not to mention paying musicians, printing 1000 CDs, graphic design, basic promo/publicity, and a handful of other miscellaneous costs it takes to record an album), I need every penny that you are generously contributing to this Kickstarter! $7,200 is the minimum that I calculated it all to cost, but the stretch goals beyond that will help me distribute the music even more and potentially even record a music video! But, let it be clear that if I don't make the full goal I won't get to keep any of the money which you have so generously contributed (your card will not be charged, but I won't get to record my album!).
Thank you SO very much for your generosity! Your support allows me to pursue what I love to do and get this music from my voice, fingers and heart out into the world!

Risks and challenges
This is my first time crowd-funding anything, and as many of you know, it's a super vulnerable and risky thing to do! I definitely feel like I'm going out on a long and narrow limb, but know that's where the fruit is. I just want to be clear again that if this Kickstarter is not fully funded I won't get to keep any of the money. That would be SAD :( So please help spread the word to family, friends, folks who you think would joyously support my musical endeavors. Thank you thank you thank you!!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
