Our Legend:
Private demons wrestle and big scary monsters brawl in NIGHTWORLD, the new comic miniseries! Reluctant hellspawn Plenilunio leads a cast of lovelorn lost souls all competing for mystic artifacts they believe can lift their curse. Plenilunio, teen-from-hades Hotspot and the haughty warrior-queen Hellena all struck bargains with the roguish agents of the Empyre that granted all wishes and then took away all hope. Now their agendas collide and strange alliances may emerge as they race to outsmart the evil, irresistible Underboss or outfight his monster minions! Meanwhile Plenilunio’s mortal allies, the saintly Ludmilla and her peril-prone Grandpa Lowe, are caught in the crossfire while Plenilunio’s spellbound lover Lidia sleepwalks his castle and haunts his heart. A modern-day redemption-thriller not about mad egos who gamble for power and fame, but unwise dreamers who find themselves fighting for the peace and happiness they already had. And often fighting big, scary monsters. We did mention the big scary monsters?
Our Evil Masterminds:
NIGHTWORLD is produced by writer Adam McGovern and artist/creator Paolo Leandri (the creative team behind the cult hit DR. ID and strips in the critics’ fav indie comic newspaper POOD), with color-artist Dom Regan (Adam & Paolo’s collaborator on “Alias the Spider” in Image Comics’ NEXT ISSUE PROJECT, and star colorist of Paul Pope’s NY Times bestseller ONE TRICK RIP-OFF).
Our Cause:
We expect to announce a publisher for NIGHTWORLD’s first, self-contained four-issue miniseries soon, but we need to finance production on our own. Your contribution will cover some of the art and technical costs, enable us to finish paying the colorist, and complete design work to prepare for publication. We have committed ourselves to this project and not postponed our creativity to bring the most memorable comic to you, but comics are a collaborative medium and depend on the belief of their fans so we need our community to help bring this dream the rest of the way into the world!
Our Solemn Oath:
NIGHTWORLD will be ALL DONE before the first issue releases and will come out ON TIME to satisfy its fans and show the market what it wants more of. We expect many different audiences to fall to our midnight legion— if you like occult superheroics, gothic romance, classic pathos, modern existential slapstick, emo-vampire and tellanovelas and big-monster smackdowns and hipster retro, there’s something in it for you!
Our Special Cases: For supporters donating through the Bleeding Cool feature first appearing the weekend of Sep. 14-15, the highest donor within that weekend can get a full comic or prose short-story edited by Adam for free, and anyone who donates through Bleeding Cool will receive a special digital booklet of exclusive preliminary sketches, the original Italian-language prototype story, script outtakes, etc. to compare the finished comic to once it comes out.
Our Guardian Demons:
Legendary DAREDEVIL and CATWOMAN writer ANN NOCENTI says “McGovern and Leandri create a mythology peppered with their own private tarot, every panel bursting with energy and excitement”; hyper-popular MADMAN creator and FF artist Michael Allred says “What I've seen so far is exactly what I'm hungry for...super cool crazy gnarly comic books!” They don’t want to wait and you don’t have to, if you give what you can!
Meanwhile, enjoy some sample pages right here! (All art by Paolo Leandri, colors by Dom Regan, text by Adam McGovern; NIGHTWORLD logo created by Steve Price):

Risks and challenges
The unknowns of indie publishing and the mystic science of best promo timing may affect the exact release date of the comic and thus some of the rewards related to it, but we expect a spring 2014 debut and delivery of all issues (both print and pdf) as soon as they are in the stores, and other rewards as soon as the first issue is out (with a print copy of Issue 1 guaranteed to all donors who pledge at those levels, whatever turn the publication saga takes)!
