Amy Gore, Jackson Smith, Leann Banks & Joe Leone record their first album!
Hi, I’m Amy Gore. I’m a singer, songwriter and guitarist from Detroit, Michigan. I have a new group that I call my Valentines because I love them. The band is Leann Banks on bass and backing vocals, Jackson Smith plays guitar, and Joe Leone plays the drums. I write, sing lead and play guitar. We are recording our first record. Please read below to find out if you might be interested in investing in this project!
I booked a solo show on a whim last year. Previously, I played in an all-girl band called the Gore Gore Girls. I asked a friend of mine, Joe Leone, if he’d want to play drums. He said yes, and that our mutual friend Jackson Smith was into playing guitar. I asked Leann Banks (Von Bondies) if she’d like to sit in on bass for the show. We had 3 weeks to get it together. I wrote some songs and we got to practicing.
After the first rehearsals, we knew something special was happening. The chemistry and musicianship was really good. Jackson and Joe told me they wanted to keep up the band after the show. The date of the show came up, March 3, 2011, and we played. It was magical. We decided to get in the studio and make an album as Amy Gore & Her Valentines.
It’s about a year later, and we're close to finishing the record. The record will be 12 songs total, 10 original songs, all recorded at Rustbelt Studios with Al Sutton. The first single is “Drivin’Around", which we made a super-cool video for in October.

We've had incredible luck with contributors to the album: Jackson’s sister, Jesse Smith, plays keyboards on 3 songs and Chris Codish plays Hammond organ on "Remember Me". Guitar legend Dennis Coffey was kind enough to sit in on a track, too!
Luis Resto guest jams on the Moog for a song, it's incredible. This song is called "Cadillac", check it out! http://youtu.be/HouYbU0pMIM
We’ve been working on this album without the financial backing of a label, which means all bills are being paid for out of pocket. Funds raised from this campaign will go towards recording, mixing, mastering, compact disc production, shipping and promotion of the album. Every dollar raised over the goal amount will be used for additional promotion and possibly, a vinyl release. I would love to put this album out on vinyl!
You can make this record come true! The goal is to raise $4500.00 by May 15, 2012. Kickstarter is unique; it is an all-or-nothing endeavor. If the goal of $4500.00 by May 15, 2012, isn't reached, we get nothing. You can pledge support at this page, the rewards offered for pledging are listed to the right!
Thank you for reading this and your continued support of my music.
