About this project
My main goal with this project is to get some interest for the game and get some people playing it other than the few friends I have had play it at this point. This is the main reason I have it set to give everyone that donates at least a $1 a copy of the game as it is currently. The game is rough at the moment and needs a little fleshing out but is totally playable at the moment, though playable does not mean you can win with any setup. That leads to my second goal. I need feedback, good, bad, indifferent, it does not matter. To make a better game I will need all I can get. Now to answer the elephant in the room question, well why do you need any money? The answer simply put is I don't but could do things faster If I did get money to help. An example would be that if the goal is hit. Then I can get a few software items (Google Docs is free but can only do so much) I have been saving for and set up online things (like a website, official email, easy way to get PDFs to you, etc).
The Game so far
The game is a high fantasy themed game. The goal of the game is to rescue the princess from the dark lord ( the final boss). You have to fight your way through legs of the quest and defeat a boss at the end of each leg. As of right now, there are two ways to go through the game. A story based path or a randomized path. I am not writing the story path as of right now as I am trying to balance the game. The randomized path you roll for most everything. A number of legs to the final boss, how many encounters till the boss fight and what you fight in those encounters. After each fight is an extra, after bosses you get a level up and after monster fights, you can gain items or a helper. The classes are done for the most part (working on balance and all) there are 12 all together and they are sorted into 2 groups. tier one and tier two. monsters are sorted into 4 tiers at the moment and get more difficult as the game progresses. I do plan on adding more to the game at a later date and that would round out the tier 5 and 6 monsters. Now the main goal of the game can be changed and campaign like stories can be added by myself or the players. The game can, at the moment, be played 1 to 4 with all players being a hero or 2 to 5 with an odd man that controls the monsters. monsters have rules they have to follow even if there is an odd man.
I like playing the game with friends. It is easy to setup and play. Though it takes some strategy and skill to win. I do enjoy that with how it is randomized, the game is not the same every time. I am adding in a way to make an organized play through that would allow for myself and others to make story driven paths. Wich would allow for more than just playing to rescue the princess. I almost forgot to mention one cool aspect is you can change up your party role on the fly. The start of rounds in combat you assign your "dice" to pools (attack, defense, and special). Now with saying that each class does have a role that it is designed to play.
Risks and challenges
The biggest risk and challenge is me completing this game on my own. This is my first go at this and it will most likely have its bumps along the way. I am prepared to see this to the end though. I also have a few people willing to help.
Another challenge is the artwork for the game. There are others that I know personally and online individuals that can do that.... for a fee.
one risk is that the project dose not get funded and you guys will still want to try the game out. Well, I am hoping that it gets funded though if not I will have to work out something for all of you who wish to try out the game. I will have more on this during the last week of fundraising. As I am not 100% on this yet.
The final major challenge for me is time. I am giving myself about a year to finish this project. I work a job and have family and friends that take time. I am though going to start devoting more time to working on this and a lot more if it actually gets funded.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
