Lucky Penny is about Penny Brighton, a girl with really bad luck! Penny loses her job and her apartment in the same day, but it's okay! In a stroke of (questionable) genius she decides to live in a storage unit. She gets a job at the local laundromat-- her boss is a twelve-year-old! And there's cute guy at the local community center, but she's the WORST at flirting... like, so bad. Yup, Penny is a a completely capable adult. You can read the untoned version of Lucky Penny online!
The print edition of the book will be fully toned, unlike the majority of pages currently featured online. We’ve also got a slew of extras planned!
We’ve been working with Oni Press on this project for a few years now. They’ve been incredibly supportive of us and the title the whole way. In that time, though, the dynamic of publishing has changed a LOT.
Our primary income over the past few years has been derived from our direct book sales to you, our fans. We’ve increasingly found that the people who support us online and via Kickstarter are wildly different from those who would pick up our book in a store or buy from Amazon-- and it's those people (you!) who allow us to make a living. So we’re running this campaign to fund OUR copies of the book to sell direct to you, our fans!
If this campaign doesn’t succeed we don’t get to make our personal copies. The book will still be available via your favorite local bookseller or comic shop come March 2016, but we won’t have personal copies for sale at conventions.
If the campaign DOES succeed backers will be the FIRST to get their hands on the book. The book won't be available for purchase online until after it's been released in stores.
On top of getting the book before anyone else we’ve got special editions of the books, beautiful prints, and even the ability to be noted on Penny’s “People I Owe Money/Favors” list! AND you can pick up a copy of CUTTINGS if you missed out the last time around. Check out the rewards and tiers below:

Risks and challenges
Ananth and Yuko ran a successful Kickstarter to print their fourth book CUTTINGS in 2014. They also ran a successful campaign for their third book in 2012. From 2012-2013 they helped run several successful Kickstarters for Benign Kingdom. They have been working in webcomics since 2003. They began Johnny Wander in 2009. They have laid out and sent four of their own books to print (Johnny Wander V1, V2, V3). Ananth also freelances with a variety of clients doing the same work (bigger publishers, independent and webcomics), ensuring that books are delivered on time to the printer.
Yuko and Ananth have also spent the past 7+ years designing merchandise, corresponding with various printers & manufacturers, and then shipping out the physical products to their readers directly. This includes a variety of items: books, t-shirts, tote bags, keychains, earrings, figurines, prints and more.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
