About

⬤  ⬤  ⬤ Hello there! It's almost SHOW TIME! ⬤  ⬤  ⬤

My name is Lauren and I am so happy you have landed on our Fairhaven Summer Repertory Theatre (FSRT) Kickstarter page! I am the 2019 fundraising fairy/thespian/Development Director and I have been asked to help raise $10,000  for this ambitious program produced by Bellingham TheatreWorks.

But Lauren, your Kickstarter goal is only $2K? Why is that?

I am so glad you asked! To be honest, our team is pretty nervous about this Kickstarter. To be even MORE honest, it's the first Kickstarter I've been in charge of and we wanted to set a goal we believe is obtainable! We hope you will consider supporting our work and maybe with some luck and your help to spread the word this Kickstarter will take off and get us to 10K! So, without further adieu, let's get into those details!

We need funding to provide:

  • AFFORDABLE THEATRE for all! We want to keep ticket prices low and to be able to provide those who need financial assistance the support they need to see quality productions.
  • PAY ARTISTS involved in our productions! The time, dedication, and quality of our local actors, designers, and crew members is priceless. Our FSRT Creative team is top-notch and we want to be able to honor that. Starving artists should be a thing of the past!
  • RETURN NEXT SUMMER with more quality theatre!

 ⬤W H A T A R E  Y O U  D O I N G ?⬤

We are creating a summer season! Three shows, performing six nights a week for four weeks at the Firehouse Arts and Events Center in Bellingham, WA. We are bringing world class theatre with a local twist to our up-and-coming arts community in Fairhaven!

Our shows for 2019.
Our shows for 2019.

We are going BEYOND the page, BEYOND the stage, and with this 2019 season giving our community an opportunity to discuss the quality of life of patients and their families who face the problems associated with serious or life-threatening illness. The theme of the shows of our 2019 season.

To achieve this level of engagement about quality of life we are excited to be partnered with Western Washington University's Palliative Care Institute. Together we are providing a space through the arts where people living with serious illnesses or facing the end of life don’t have to be cured to heal.

Our Inaugural 2019 Summer Season Includes:

WIT by Margaret Edson

  • "Pulitzer Prize-winning play - a sardonic, funny, and heart-wrenching exploration of the puzzle of our irrevocable journey toward death, as seen through the eyes of a feisty 50-year-old professor of English Literature who has been diagnosed with Stage IV ovarian cancer."

CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF by Tennessee Williams

  • "As a family gathers to celebrate Big Daddy's birthday, sins of the past and desperate, clawing hopes for the future spar with one another as the knowledge that Big Daddy is dying slowly makes the rounds in this 1955 Pulitzer Prize winning classic."

THE CLEAN HOUSE by Sarah Ruhl.

  •  "This Pulitzer nominated romantic comedy is about loss, love, change and redemption, The Clean House is both whimsical and touching. A serious career-oriented doctor, Lane, has hired a quirky Brazilian maid. The only problem is that the maid, Matilde, hates to clean. Instead, she longs to be a comedienne."

The show will go on! No matter what happens with the 2K Kickstarter goal, the 10K season goal, theatre will be happening this July.   As with all theatre, it is a labor of love and dedication and we have gone into this adventure prepared.

We need this funding so we can improve, remain affordable, and grow roots in Fairhaven.
