A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
A lucid dream is any dream during which you, while you are having a dream, are aware that you are dreaming. When you are having a lucid dream, you can learn to take control over your actions and change the course of the dream itself.
Why is this important?
Human beings spend more time dreaming than eating. Speaking of time, how much would you pay for an extra year of life? What about five more years? What would it be worth to you to spend up to two hours a night (that’s five years over the course of an average lifespan) having extraordinary kinds of experiences that are only possible in a dream? For the vast majority of people, dreams simply deliver a random set of experiences that happen without our conscious input or control. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Today, only a very small percentage of the population regularly experience lucid dreams. What would you do if you could do anything that you are capable of imagining? Or if you had more time available to further your personal development, since studies have shown that practicing actions in a lucid dream improves your waking performance of those same actions.
In short, we believe that lucid dreaming allows you to become a happier, better version of yourself. And we think you can have an immense amount of fun along the way!
We believe in the power of lucid dreaming to truly change the world. And we envision a world where anybody who wants to Lucid Dream can. This Aladdin product is the first important step towards realizing this vision.
Think about how much time, energy and money you spend to enhance the enjoyment of your life during your waking hours, whether exercising, watching television, playing video games, traveling, etc. Now we ask: What are you doing to improve the enjoyment of your life when you sleep?
The first step of Aladdin's technology is to use EEG technology to monitor your brain activity in order to determine your stage of sleep. In this way, you will be able to track your sleep much more accurately than any wrist-worn wearable, since you will be utilizing far more accurate EEG technology. This information will be stored in the Aladdin app on your smartphone and can be used by you to learn helpful information like how long it took for you to fall asleep, how long you were in deep sleep, shallow sleep and REM/Dream sleep. This knowledge can help you improve the quality of your sleep as you begin to learn the connection between your waking activities and the impact they have on the quality of your sleep.
Once Aladdin detects that you are in the REM cycle, which is the dreaming stage of sleep that your body experiences 4-6 times each night, Aladdin utilizes a proprietary algorithm to provide a gentle low-current electrical stimulation to the forehead.
The area of the brain that resides behind the forehead is known as the prefrontal cortex, which, among other executive functions, controls reasoning. When we are awake, this area of our brain is always active, allowing us to utilize our reasoning skills.
During the REM stage of sleep, however, clinical studies have shown that the reasoning center of our brain is dormant. This helps to explain why even when unusual things happen in our dreams most of us tend to just "go with it" instead of questioning how we could find ourselves in such strange predicaments.
Aladdin's stimulation nudges the nerve cells in the prefrontal cortex of the brain, making it easier for those neurons to fire (which they do whenever we are awake).
Once the reasoning center of the brain is active or "turned on" during a dream, we are now able to notice the peculiarities of the dream and realize that we are in fact dreaming. And after we are aware that we are dreaming, we do not have to continue on the path that we were previously on or stay in the environment we were previously in. We can take control of our dream and spend that time doing whatever we like.
Both the EEG detection and the stimulation are delivered through an electrode strip that is easily placed on your forehead before sleep.
A control unit that is connected to the electrode strip wirelessly communicates with an app on your smartphone. The app not only tracks and records your stages of sleep, but also communicates the optimized stimulation protocol to the headband.
Many companies claim to track your sleep, unfortunately almost no one does this accurately. Wrist-worn devices use motion and sometimes your pulse to "guess-timate" when you are asleep and at what stage of sleep you are in, but this approach has been shown to be inaccurate. Aladdin uses EEG technology to measure your brain waves which is proven to be the most accurate way to measure sleep stages.
With Aladdin's accurate sleep tracking you learn, among other things:
Exactly how long it takes you to fall asleep,
Whether you are getting enough of the restorative "deep" sleep your body needs,
Whether your sleep interrupted and for how long,
And how often did you dream.
Do you ever wake up groggy? Sometimes wake during a "deep" stage of sleep instead of the much shallower light stage of sleep. With Aladdin's Smart Alarm, you can set a customizable window when you want to wake up. Aladdin's smart-sensing EEG technology will search for a light stage of sleep during your window so that you can avoid grogginess and wake up refreshed!
Most of us have experienced nightmares or very stressful & anxiety-filled dreams. For some of us, this a nightly experience which affects our waking lives. With Aladdin's patent pending stimulation technology which helps you to become aware that what is happening to you is not real and then a nightmare can be transformed into a very different, even positive experience through Lucid Dreaming practice.
Each night, we all dream. Some remember, and some don't. For those of us who do remember our dreams right when we wake, those memories are often fleeting. Aladdin takes two separate approaches to improving your dream recall. First, our app gives you the ability to record your dream recollection (either by typing or audio recording) as it has been proven that recounting your dream immediately after waking transfers the memory from short-term memory to long-term memory. Second, you can set Aladdin's Smart Alarm so that you wake up during or immediately after a REM period of sleep when your ability to recall dreams is strongest.
The Aladdin device contains 3 parts: an electrode strip that attaches to your forehead, a microprocessor that tells the strip when to monitor and when to stimulate and a comfortable headband to contain it all.
The electrodes: A simple strip of electrodes that both distribute gentle low current stimulations as well as monitor your stages of sleep.
The microprocessor: Controls the stimulation and communicates back with the app.
The headband: Soft, comfortable, machine-washable.
The app contains everything you need to help control your Aladdin Dream Stimulator, track sleep and assist you on your path towards becoming an expert lucid dreamer.

Risks and challenges
Consumer products are the result of collaboration amongst an enormous amount of people: inventors, designers, engineers, entrepreneurs, vendors, manufacturers, and shippers. If any one person or group misses a deadline it can affect the overall timeline of bringing a product to market.
Even when everyone does their job, products must be tested to ensure quality and consistency. Any unforeseen issues in the quality control phase of manufacturing could also result in delay.
The good news is that as CEO of my last company, I built a team of 130 professionals and together we were able to manufacture more than 80 million units of our products which we distributed to more than a dozen countries, including to all 50 states in the USA. I learned a lot from my those experiences, both what to do and what not to do.
At Aladdin, I have a team of people who have the experience to face the challenges that lie ahead.
