About this project
Not All T-Shirts Are Created Equal
Is the Hugh & Crye T-shirt really that different than your standard big-brand tee? The answer: Absolutely. Our shirts fit, look, and feel better than anything in your closet. On top of that, they're fairly priced ($20 with shipping included) and made in the USA.
What Makes Our Approach to Fit Better?
Our sizes are based on real people, not industry patterns. We measured thousands of guys and came up with 12 unique sizes based on body type and height. You can find your fit in just two simple steps on our website, or use the chart below as a guide.
Classic Style, Six Colors
Consider this your trusty wear-everywhere tee—a staple of the modern gentleman. An unbranded crew T-shirt made of 100% combed cotton and available in six colors.
What's so great about combed cotton? It's an incredibly soft version of cotton that undergoes a special brushing treatment before it's spun into yarn. It's ideal for wearing against the skin, resistant to wear and tear, and will hold its shape over time. In a nutshell: it’s the Cadillac of cottons—durable comfort.
When you contribute to our Kickstarter, you're not only supporting a small business, but also American-made garments. We partnered with a responsible and highly capable manufacturer in downtown Los Angeles, California, to create our T-shirts. Get an inside look at the process on our website.
- While customers love our 12-size approach, most US manufacturers do not. The traditional system of S/M/L is easy for them to produce and less expensive. They don't want to deal with the cost of creating and producing shirts in 12 unique patterns, especially in the smaller quantities we order. In order to meet the minimum order quantity and establish reputability, we need capital and to show the manufacturer a clear sign of future demand.
- We’re bootstrapped. We haven’t taken any outside funding since we launched H&C. Bootstrapping an inventory-holding cash-hungry business hasn't been easy, but we've made it happen! With Kickstarter, we have a unique opportunity to learn more about what our customers want and gauge interest in better-fitting casual wear before jumping in headfirst.
- We want to deliver an incredible product at a fair price. In traditional retail, a shirt is marked up as many as 8x before it ends up in your closet. Instead of dealing with a middleman supplier, we’ll be able to bring the product straight to you via Kickstarter and our online store. Our rewards price the T-shirts at approximately $20 each.
Where Your Money is Going
The H&C Guarantee
We created the H&C Tee with you in mind, and hope you love it from the moment you put it on. If you’re unsatisfied with your shirt for any reason, including the fit, let us know and we’ll make it right! We’re happy to do an exchange based on size or color if we have the items you need in stock.
Unsure of your Hugh & Crye size? If you have any questions regarding fit, don’t hesitate to reach out! Message us on Kickstarter, email email@example.com, or call 202-250-3807. We’ll ask for a couple of your measurements and confirm your H&C size in no time.
The Hugh & Crye Story
We're experts on fit. We’ve been in the clothing business for four years—that’s enough time to understand how this world works, but short enough to still have a fresh perspective. We know that off-the-rack dress shirts don't fit men well, so we created a unique sizing system for dress shirts based on lean and athletic body types. And guys loved it!
Now we want to use our revolutionary sizing to create fitted T-shirts made here in the USA. But as a startup, we need your help to make this happen!
Thank you for checking out our Kickstarter! We hope you join us on our mission to create a better-fitting T-shirt. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have! We're always here to help.

Risks and challenges
We know what it takes to see production through to the end. We have a strong relationship with the manufacturer, a tried-and-true shipping process, and a customer experience team bar none (seriously, give us a call at 202-250-3807 or email us anytime at firstname.lastname@example.org).
We're focused on getting a superior product to your doorstep, but there could be a slight delay in production along the way. Rest assured, we know how to handle setbacks in the rare case that they arise. And we're confident you will get your rewards ASAP.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Thanks for supporting our Kickstarter! When the project closes on September 4, you’ll receive an email that will allow you to select the size and color you would like. You’ll also supply your shipping information at that time.
Are these T-shirts pre-shrunk or would you suggest selecting a size up to accommodate for shrinking in the wash?
Our T-shirts are pre-shrunk and fit true to size. We even took our samples and ran them through the dryer just to be sure. We saw zero shrinkage!
For this production run, we're focusing on the six colors above (Mallow, Berry, Azure Blue, Heraldic Blue, Matte Black, and Even Gray). If we're successful, we will most certainly consider other colors, including white. If there is a color that you'd love to see us produce in this T-shirt, or even another style altogether, we highly recommend you join our "Creative Council." Membership to the Creative Council is free when you choose the $100 or $180 reward.
The Ten Pack is designed as a "friends and family" pledge, so that you are free to choose between multiple sizes and colors. The Six Pack is designed for the H&C customer who wants "one of each" for themselves, and wants to provide input on future production. That said, if you've chosen a Ten Pack and still want to be a member of the Creative Council, no problem! Just let us know in a personal message and we'll mark you down as a member.
When I go to back this project, Kickstarter sends me to Amazon Payments. What's that all about? Can I still pay with a credit card?
Kickstarter uses Amazon as a platform for processing payments, but you will still be paying with a credit card. Amazon accepts almost all types (VISA, MasterCard, Amex, etc). Your card will not be charged until the Kickstarter is fully funded and closes.
Due to overwhelming demand, we added International One Pack and Three Pack rewards. These include shipping to anywhere in the world.
