What's up with those basses and snares?
Below are pictures of the basses and snares we're offering as rewards. All of the instruments will be used on the actual record, and we'll be sure to let you know which songs so you can brag to your friends. Both of the snares are already snagged, but we still have one bass left. All are first pledge, first pick. (NOTE: All of these instruments have been used by Caleb and Brian on tour and in the studio, so they sound pretty good and are definitely usable in a real life setting. If you just want it as a collector's item, that's cool too).
More About Us:
Originally from Harrisburg, PA and formed in 2003, Farewell Flight has toured over 40 US states spanning 29 tours, and we've done it completely independently. After the release of the fan-favorite album, Sound Color Motion, we recorded a sophomore album, then signed to a record label who thought it best to shelve the album and instead re-package and re-release our debut. A year after that re-release, itching to record a brand-new album, we tracked demos; however the label decided they weren't interested and released us from our contract.
After spending 2 frustrating years contractually unable to record or release new music, we busted down the gates of 2013 chomping at the bit. To celebrate our independence and repay our faithful fans for the drought they endured, we gave away new and unreleased music every single week for absolutely free, starting on January 1st 2013. This included all of our "lost" album, Lonesome Traveler, as well as b-sides, demos, and videos of fan-requested cover songs.
Recently relocated to Nashville, TN, we've written a brand new album and need your help to make it happen. A new album not only means new music for our fans, but jump starts us so we can tour again, and become a more active, producing band. We've never been more excited about a group of songs, and believe that this album will take us new places as individuals and a group, and will encourage listeners new and old.

Risks and challenges
Our biggest challenge we're looking at is our planned release date. All fulfillment dates are based on when the last item is delivered, which will be the physical album itself. Upon the successful completion of our Kickstarter campaign, we plan to record in late May, and have the album mixed and mastered by the end of June. We don't want to sit on the record for too long, so we're shooting for a July release date. The biggest foreseeable obstacle is releasing it in such a way that it makes the most impact. If the publicist we hire can accomplish more by delaying the release a short period of time, depending on the circumstances and weighing the difference, we may choose to do that. We want to work hard and quickly, but we also want to work smart. Recording and releasing an album is a process with many moving parts, and it's reasonable to expect at least a few unforeseen delays, from pre-production to manufacturing delivery. We promise to keep our Backers informed of these delays (should they arise), and work our damnedest to get this album to you. We thank you in advance for your patience, and ask you to remember: no matter how excited you are to get your album, we're more excited to get it to you.
Our only other challenge is simply the fulfillment of all the rewards. As an independent band, we will be doing all the work of designing, printing, shipping, etc, by ourselves to completion. However, we're excited for the task and the labor of love to show thanks to our fans for their support, and look forward to the challenge. As a band that has survived for a decade, releasing 3 EPs and 1 full-length independently, as well as a new song per week for the last 13 weeks (each with original artwork), we think we've shown ourselves to be no strangers to independent releases, and up to the task of following through on our word to the people without whom any of this would be impossible: our fans.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
