Fight The Dragon is a 3D Mini Action RPG in which players journey on short form adventures, hacking and slashing their way through hordes of enemies in search of rare loot and shiny things.
At its core, Fight The Dragon is very much a hack-and-slash game, focusing on fun and exciting gameplay and responsive combat, all based around short play sessions. 10-15 minute adventures in a non-linear format allows players to jump in for a quick fix, or play multiple adventures over longer play sessions.
Blocking, rolling or sprinting, your hero is super agile and can avoid any situation or take enemies face on using chained light attacks with dynamic movement, heavy attacks with knock-back and real physics, all augmented with magic abilities based on shield type. Your hero is set to battle their way through everything in their path.
Our hero starts out as a young naive adventurer, but after a few battles and much looting, they evolve into the ultimate dragon warrior, making their mother very proud.
Fight The Dragon has a fairly in-depth procedural loot system allowing players to fine tune their equipment to enhance specific character abilities. Players will never run out of loot to find/pickup no matter what level they get to.
Beyond loot and weapons, Fight The Dragon also includes a character customisation system that allows you to select from different skins, heads and hair styles, including the ability to play as a female character.
Fight The Dragon supports local drop-in split-screen co-op, a cool feature we feel has been overlooked in many of todays local multiplayer gaming experiences.
Fight The Dragon also supports up to 4 player online drop-in co-op over LAN and Internet.
As heroes complete adventures and reach milestones, they earn tickets that allow them to go “Fight The Dragon” in the ultimate dragon battle arena.
Every player has their own dragon to fight, and each dragon has MEGA HP, so killing your dragon will require many encounters and a lot of skill. The damage you do to your dragon is persistent between play sessions, so collect as many tickets as you can and go battle it out!
Each ticket grants the player 3 lives, but be warned, there are more ways to die in the dragon arena than just the dragon, so stay alert!

The ACK (as is the gameplay) is designed to be as intuitive to use via a gamepad as it is via mouse and keyboard. Creators are able to sculpt and paint environments, place props, enemies, NPCs, checkpoints and other key game elements.
Creators will have a huge range of props available to them to place within their adventures, including traps, various types of doors (unlocked, locked via switch etc), lights, rocks, gates, barrels, loot chests etc...
Creators can place markers for enemies, which determine what type of enemy spawns from that location. They can also assign behaviour types including patrol paths to really bring the adventures to life.
NPCs can be placed by creators and given multiple stages of dialogue (140 character chunks) as well as accompanying animations, which lets Creators tell a story and guide players through their adventure.
There will be enough content available in the ACK to allow creators to design a huge range of stunning and unique playing experiences, as the ACK is same tool that 3 Sprockets will be using to create all shipping adventures.
Adventure creators will receive analytics for their published adventures, from actual annotated play-through data to general player stats and information (plays, deaths, time taken, etc).
Create compelling play experiences with full control over level design, enemy placement and logic, props, loot, traps, time of day, side quests and more!
Fight The Dragon will be shipping on Steam for Windows, OSX and Linux and will support Big Picture Mode with full controller support and well as Steam Machines when they start appearing. It will also be available DRM Free on all platforms via the Humble Store and will also be available for OSX via the Mac App Store.
We have a lot of exciting things planned for Fight The Dragon post release, and through stretch goals we have the ability to accelerate the inclusion of a few of them. We have listed them here with a funding target.
$75,000 - Procedural Dungeon System
During gameplay, we will drop special dungeon keys that players can collect, and these keys can be used to access random dungeons.
Gameplay within the dungeons will be very different to normal gameplay. Dungeons include high quality loot and extra XP on enemy kills, but dying in a dungeon immediately ends your time there and you lose everything you earned - It's about getting out alive with as much loot as you can carry!
$100,000 - Online Deathmatch Arena
You've spent hours adventuring, sharpening your fighting skills, collecting the best loot and levelling up your character... now it's time to put your money where your mouth is!
Online multi-player deathmatch tournaments where players will be able to battle it out against other players using their best characters. Fight for ultimate fame and glory for all to see.
As you can see from our visuals, we have accomplished a lot so far and we are really happy with our progress, but we have so much more still do do.
We have been very lucky that we have been able to fully fund Fight The Dragon to this point from sales of our Cubemen titles and will continue putting all of our income back into development until we ship, but we now find ourselves in a position where we need to bring on more resources to help us finish the game.
Making an RPG is a huge undertaking in its own right, but shipping with a complete construction kit has more than doubled the complexity and scope, so we have come to Kickstarter to help us raise additional funds that will be added to our other income and allow us to ramp up development in a few key areas:
- More traps, interactive & destructible items and general props.
- Lots of art content required for new Enemies, Loot, Character customisations etc
- We have an awesome music composer on board, but we haven't even started on any Sound FX sourcing or implementation.
- General content creation - You guys need adventures to play right?
3 Sprockets has been making games since 2010 and released the very successful Cubemen series on Steam and iOS.
We specialise in multi-platform game development, network gameplay and user generated content and combined our team has shipped over 22 games since 2006 spanning a range of genres and platforms.
Risks and challenges
Fight The Dragon development is very far along and most of our current effort prior to shipping the Alpha involves adding new content, finishing the ACK and general game balance. Almost everything we currently intend to include in the game is already in place in some form.
Making and shipping video games is hard, even for experienced teams. Between us all at 3 Sprockets, we have shipped over 20 titles across many different platforms, so shipping Fight The Dragon won't be a problem for us.
We are sure that interesting challenges will pop up during our testing phase (they always do) and we have some pretty good systems in place to deal with player communication and bug hunting to ensure we deliver the best game possible.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
