Hi everyone. Not sure if any of you are still following this project here on Kickstarter but we thought it was about time to share our full story, but the time before the Kickstarter and the time after. You can find it here - https://imgur.com/gallery/bUjIm

    2. Playwood Project ApS Creator on March 26, 2016

Firstly, thanks for all the supportive comments and constructive feedback we have received. We also understand that some of you feel disappointed that we canceled the campaign before time. But running a Kickstarter is a tremendous demanding process regarding working hours and emotional investment, and with a very slim to none chance of reaching our goal, we made the hard decision to spend the time carving out a new strategy, for the further development of WARTILE. And @Jasse we do not have an investor lined up.

Just another company who uses kickstarter as a marketing tool and withdraws when an investor shows up.
      Seems so.

    4. EripmaV on March 24, 2016

@Matthew - The price point was worked out carefully, it wasn't just a rash, rushed decision:)

We did try to woo the boardgamers and tried to get editorial on the big board gaming websites, channels and cross promo with other campaigns. The only guys that showed any interest were Beasts of War.

      @Matthew Peckham

Kickstarter is not a pre-order service! You are funding to bring a game to life, you get a copy of the game as a thank you.

Real shame that this was cancelled, but I see why. (@Max, they were looking for £55,000.) I think for this to succeed in the future, you need to look at a couple of things. (a) The price of the game is only £9 - to reach your £55k target, you would have needed to have sold over 6100 "preorders". That's a hard task in itself. (b) I think you need to market it towards hobby board gamers more, as this would be more their cup of tea than you think. It is mine, anyway! Good luck with however you choose to proceed - I'll be backing any relaunch, and would even consider paying more than £9!

i am really sorry that you had to withdraw from the Kickstarter campaign. How short were you and how many days did you have to go? The page now only shows how much you raised, not what your goal was, and I can't remember the details. One of the reasons I wanted to know this is to compare your progress to two Kickstarter projects I backed that were something like $10,000 US behind with a few days left and they hit their goal. I didn't believe it would be possible, but it happened. As a non-boardgame player, I wasn't sure it would be a game I would enjoy, but everything you showed us made me certain that it would be excellent.
Was there anything else besides figuring you wouldn't be able to hit your goal that led to shutting down the KS campaign?
Anyway, I hope you can complete the game; I will buy it when it comes out.

So are you guys following, or not?:P If you were, you'd see that I approached the SBF guys via Twitter, then via email. No reply, as of yet. But if you all retweet the initial opening Tweet, they might take more notice.

Are you guys following Wartile on Twitter, retweeting their tweets, sharing facebook posts and everything else? This REALLY helps get eyes on the campaign.

    19. Tim Albers on March 22, 2016

Quick question for the devs: Will you be at gamescom 2016?

    20. Playwood Project ApS Creator on March 22, 2016

Hi Anders Cold and Donnie Yen!

When localizing WARTILE we aim to reach and provide a service to as many potential users as possible and give them a chance to fully play and enjoy the game. Since English is the second language in Scandinavian - and mastered very well by the majority - a Danish localization is not in the cards right now, but it might come at a later date. But we are considering to have the figurines speak words from time to time, and I promise you that, if that happens, some of them will definitely speak in Danish!

Regarding having YouTubers play WARTILE, there have actually been many really good and funny Let's Play of WARTILE. You should try and search WARTILE on Youtube and you'll see all the coverage we've been getting for the campaign. Same goes for Twitch streams for the game from all the people that have been contacted.

Thanks a lot for your comments and feedback!

    21. EripmaV on March 22, 2016

Donnie, Anders - if you have any pull with Super Best Friends, I'm happy to get in touch with them and you guys tell them to cover WARTILE.

Anders is right. Nelo is looking to get half their funding goal in under two days thanks to one let's play of their demo.

    23. Anders Cold on March 22, 2016

      Two ideas:

      1. I see you're aiming at offering Wartile in different languages at launch. Seeing as Playwood is, at least in part Danish, would it be a major undertaking to do a Danish version as well?

      2. Have you thought about getting some youtubers to do a playthrough of the demo? I see that Super Best Friends did one of Nelo – another KS project I am backing – and it worked wonders for their funding, which struggled, but skyrocketed after the project was featured on there.

    24. Playwood Project ApS Creator on March 21, 2016

We've been getting the same question from xergal from several other backers thanks to the Contact Me link on the right, so we figured you definitely want to hear more about the English figurines right now!

Will the English have an equivalent unit to the GODI?

Yes they will be! Actually, you could even say there are two. For instance, we have the Paladin, which you might have seen from the concept art we showed on our second update at the link below.

You see, the Paladin has what some could say are "magical" powers thanks to him being a religious warrior for the church, but unlike the GODI, he is more of a heavy hitter with lots of armor who can also use his powers to support the rest of the figurines.

But as a direct counterpart to the GODI, the English will have a unit that will be, say, a priest or monk figurine armed with soft robes and maces, ready to stand up against the heathen invaders. This figurine will have the ability to cast spells that will have positive effects on its group, issuing blessings and casting healing spells that can turn the tide of battle.

Once funded, we'll be working hard on these units, and if all goes as planned, we'll be adding them to the Coastline Battle Board in the Closed Alpha build.

    25. Playwood Project ApS Creator on March 21, 2016

@Tracey: We aim to offer WARTILE in English, as well as in German, French, Spanish and Russian either at launch or during the launch window.

As for your other question, WARTILE is going to have Campaign Battle Boards that will be connected in an overall story while also focusing on things from the perspective of one of your figurines.

Then we have Challenge Boards that, well, offer a special experience and extra challenge as well as prividing you with a reward that will definitely tempt you into taking a crack at them.

On top of this we have the Multiplayer Boards with different game modes, such as classic competitive MOBA-style action along with more quest oriented Multiplayer Boards were one team needs to fulfill some objectives while the other team has to prevent that from happening. These objective based Multiplayer Boards could, in theory, be based on Battle Biards taken from the Main Campaign, or include completely different boards.

The more funds we can secure over our main goal, the more stuff we can add to WARTILE!

      Got a couple of questions.

      1. Does the game offer Spanish translation?

      2. I see the game has three modes Campaign, Challenge and Battle modes, i like variety of the modes very much. I wonder if the battle mode works a bit like Free-play say for example replay campaign scenarios in Battle mode maybe?

    27. Playwood Project ApS Creator on March 21, 2016

@xergal: We'll be talking about the English units on a project update to talk more avout their role in WARTILE.

@dablue: There will be Godly Card in the game that will be of great help to your figurines in battle. There's also other stuff in the planning stage regarding the Gods, but we'll be talking about that at a later date.

    28. Dablue

What will the presence of gods be in game? Can they be invoked for bonuses ?

Yeah I check in here from time to time, just don't say much.
I'll see if I can link it here when I get back to my computer but I saw a PC gaming website had a nice write up about wartile.

I'm not sure this one is going to make its goal, but then again I was thinking the same thing about mediocre monster and they're at like 97% with a couple days left. And with war tile being close to the same level they were in, I won't give up on them just yet.
