The idea for an electric guitar capable of producing fantastic, inspiring tones directly from the guitar itself came to Joe Floyd in a dream. The soaring, singing tone from this "dream guitar" put Joe on a quest to make it a reality.
As he researched and experimented, Joe became convinced that the latest advances in acoustics, electronics, speaker design, battery technology, and manufacturing techniques could make this dream achievable.
Joe built the first "proof of concept" prototype, known as P-1. He showed P-1 to long-time friend and fellow musician, Jan Lucas, who immediately recognized the impact an instrument like this would have on the world of music.
Joe and Jan partnered up— refining the concept… always with an ear for great tone. Inspired by their discoveries, Jan created computer models and designed the complex machining method needed to carve the body from the same hardwoods used in traditional guitar manufacture. The guitar's shape and contours were perfected to work with the patented acoustic technology inside. The result is a beautiful instrument that feels comfortable and familiar to the player.
As the journey continued, Joe and Jan reached out to another long-time friend— producer, engineer, and businessman, Andy Bloch. Since then, the team has been working together on all aspects of the project: preamp, power amp and power supply electronics, effects circuits, production methods, etc.
No cables, pedals or bulky amps needed. The ElectroPhonic Guitar is powered by Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries - proven technology used in Tesla cars, power tools, and a host of other applications.
You now have freedom... hanging out at the beach, in the park, by a campfire, at an outdoor festival or wherever you want to go. On stage, on a mountain top, or kicking back in your favorite chair, you will be inspired to play...

The response from the guitar playing community has been astounding. Now we need your help. Our goal is to make the EP guitar affordable while maintaining the highest level of quality.
Your support as "early adopters" will allow us to streamline our manufacturing. We want to make EP guitars available to every player who wants one! The KickStarter Model One guitars are a limited run. These will come with unique "case candy" including a Thank-you! card signed by all three founders.

Jan, co- founder and designer, is a multi-instrumentalist, film maker/ editor, and music producer. Jan developed a critical ear for sound during his many years in music production. He has always had an insatiable fascination with cutting-edge technology since his youth. Jan's creative abilities with visual arts, design, and music are some of the skills and talents he brings to EP design. Engineer and Business Executive
Andy is an accomplished and creative executive who has a proven track record of success in both the entertainment and technology sectors. He fell in love with the EP guitar concept immediately upon seeing it. His experience with music, having worked for numerous artists from Little Feat to Peter Frampton, to name a couple, contributes daily to the superior design and production techniques of our guitars. As a respected business executive, Andy’s skills are also a great asset for EP. Clearly his passion for great sound and beauty is reflected in ElectroPhonic® guitars.
Musician (guitar), Songwriter, Music Producer and Inventor
Joe began a lifelong obsession with the electric guitar at age 13 when he saw Jimi Hendrix in concert. Joe's band, WARRIOR plays festival rock shows in the US and Europe. While working with WARRIOR, Joe also began working with well known artists at his Silvercloud Recording studio in Burbank, CA. Joe's exploration of electric guitar sound continued as he recorded legendary guitar players including Slash, Ronnie Montrose, Warren DeMartini (RATT), Adrian Smith (IRON MAIDEN), Steve Vai, Earl Slick, Michael Landau, and many other great players. He is now devoted full-time to the development of the ElectroPhonic® Guitar.
The ElectroPhonic platform offers endless possibilities for future development as new technologies emerge. For example, we are currently exploring the potential of Field Programmable Analog Arrays, to create realistic amp tones and analog effects in a small, low voltage circuit. We are working closely with one of the leaders of this technology.
Playing an EP is a unique experience. It is a guitar like no other.

Risks and challenges
With any new product, there are going to be risks and challenges that need to be managed daily. As is the case with most Kickstarter campaigns, our manufacturing and delivery challenge will be front and center.
To mitigate this risk, we've spent the past two years carefully working through development, testing and design that results in efficient and economical work flows.
We have a production approach that has been reviewed with our experts. Our approach includes the personnel and equipment required to meet our goals. We have also carefully considered what volumes we can produce at the high quality we expect, and reflected those goals in our Kickstarter campaign.
We are committed to exceeding your expectations while building an amazing new instrument for you. Don't hesitate to email us directly if you have further questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
