We've spent almost two years perfecting our machine learning algorithms that learn how to help us better manage our electricity consumption lowering our energy usage and energy waste. KnittBar will save us money and help us lower our carbon footprint on the world. This is partly accomplished by KnittBar helping us with our tendencies to forget to turn things off, better energy management and also lowering energy waste derived from idle power consumption.

We created KnittBar to work seamlessly with our everyday lifestyles and be as natural of an interaction as communicating with someone. We asked ourselves, 'what if', and started building from there...
What if, everything we used, just knew what to do. Knew when to turn on, or off.
With KnittBar, they now can, through scheduling you can automate things to perform a task right when you want them to. Also, setting smart rules like using the environment sensor to detect when the sun sets to conveniently turn on a lamp, letting you do things that are more important.
What if, everything we used, cared for us. Knew when we needed them, right when it mattered.
The environment sensor acts as a trigger, based on humidity percentage, temperature, ambient light, and sound level, intelligently managing things to do what they suppose to do, when to do it. Many adults and children need humidifiers on during the night to get a good night's rest. Leaving humidifiers on all night can bring the Relative Humidity in a room over the desired percentage, wasting energy, water and unnecessary wear and tear. KnittBar can effectively maintain the Relative Humidity at a desired level, waste less energy/water and reduce wear and tear.
What if, everything we used, cared about the little things, when we didn’t.
Since KnittBar is smart, it learns about us, our appliances and our electronics so that it can better manage electricity consumption saving us money and helping the environment at the same time.
What if, everything we used, wanted to help us. Even when, we didn’t know, we needed it.
Since KnittBar will be monitoring energy usage in real-time, it will learn what the regular usage is each for each item connected to it. If KnittBar senses any irregular consumption, which usually indicates a problem, it will let you know.
What if, everything we used knew when we were being forgetful, and would remind us.
Many people often forget to turn things off or leave things plugged in for too long that might cause us, our homes or businesses harm. Let's face it, life gets hectic, it happens. Having that nudge just at the right time reminding us that we forgot could go a long way. KnittBar monitors usage in real-time and has safety protocols in place that will remind us that there is an appliance being used. KnittBar's USB quick chargers will turn off when devices have reached their full charge, not only to protect the device, but to protect its owner as well.
Automatic cut off the USB charger when device is fully charged. You can also set a timer to turn on the charger one hour before you leave, so you can leave home with a 100% charged device.

Risks and challenges
We have been working on this idea for more than one year and have gone through four iterations. We always put safety and stability as the top consideration when we design the KnittBar. The main challenge is the communication and power connection between modules. We spent a few months to find the best solution and we filed a patent on our technology. Now, all the design and functionalities have been verified. The next big challenge is the manufacture. Our hardware team will stay in Shenzhen, China for a few months to better communicate with our manufacture and make sure we can conquer all the challenges.
We want to ensure that we deliver the highest quality KnittBar possible. The product details may change over the course of the certification and manufacturing process. We will keep all the backers updated on any changes immediately. We have stated that shipment will commence in March 2017 accounting for many worst case scenarios and the actual shipping date can be earlier. However, it is impossible to account for every scenario due to practicality. We will keep all the backers posted with any unexpected situations.
