Cubejumper – The Cubening is a fast-paced and exciting puzzle platform-game about a clumsy engineer trapped in a gigantic machine that churns out all the different kinds of cubes needed for other games.
The^3 Machine is broken and the Cube Factory is spitting out all sorts of things that shouldn’t be in the cube production pipeline including bloins, powerups and enemies destined for other games. While attempting to fix the problem, Cubey The Cube, the engineer responsible for overseeing The^3 Machine has fallen into the production pipeline and must attempt to climb out while salvaging any valuables he finds along the way and avoiding enemies that were intended for other games.
You must take control of Cubey The Cube and help him survive his ordeal in The^3 Machine.
The game is projected for a release date of May/June 2013.
It is a rather block coin. Take a look...
- Frantic and addictive third person puzzle action!
Cubejumper is a fast-paced puzzle-platform game reminiscent of games like Mr.Driller or even Q*Bert.
- Customize Cubey with costumes and items!
Throughout the game you can collect costumes and items that Cubey can wear, some of these give him special abilities! Some of them don’t. Deal with that.
- Spend Bloins you find on upgrades, costumes and items!
Visit Bloin at The Bloin and Bloinenson Emporium in order to buy new costumes, items and upgrades, but don't worry this isn't monetization, you will only be able to spend bloins you find while playing the game and we will not be selling additional bloins for real-world money.
- Defeat enemies destined for other games!
Enemies that were built for a variety of games will attempt to stop Cubey as he climbs his way out of The ^3 Machine.
- PC and Mac releases
The game will be available on PC and Mac direct from our website. The Kickstarter campaign will be updated when the site goes live, and when the game is released it will be available from there. We are looking into other distribution platforms as well.
Ludophobia is a small company founded in early 2011 after the founders did some freelance game projects for a large client company. We have undertaken a number of small real-time projects for clients including real-time architectural visualization and game applications for training purposes, as well as lecturing at a local university.
We have a good amount of experience getting finished products to clients and want to turn to our real passion, videogames. Cubejumper will allow us to do that full-time and to deliver a finished and polished game that we can be very proud of, Kickstarter allows us to do this with support coming directly from the people who are interested in playing the end product, with no interference from clients or publishers who might demand changes or advertisements in order to increase profitability.
Graduated from Southampton Solent University while running Ludophobia with Arran, and had a burning passion for creating fun and exciting videogames, he is eager to turn that passion to full-time indie game development. Adrian’s background is in programming and is the lead programmer for Cubejumper.
Graduated from Southampton Solent University while working freelance and setting up Ludophobia with Adrian. With his art background and passion for game design he will ensure Cubejumper looks great.
Lauren has a strong art background and will be providing our character and enemy concept designs and comic book artwork for the game, as well as various additional pieces of promotional art.
Initial Funding - £10,000
Our initial funding goal is £10,000. Which sounds like a lot of money, and it is! But making video games is expensive, and we need to pay for a few essentials like sound and music design as well as artwork and concept production for characters and enemies. In addition to this, the core team is only being paid just enough to pay rent and bills as well as a few office and legal costs.
Stretch Goal 1: Additional level types and a new game mode - £12,500
With an extra £2500 we would be able to take the time necessary to add 4 more level environments to the game in addition to a whole new game mode, Time Attack!
Stretch Goal 2: Linux Version - £13,500
A further £1000 would enable us to upgrade our Unity Pro 3.5 license to Unity 4.0 and have full Linux support when the game is released, this is something we would very much like to be able to do but simply cannot afford at our £10,000 funding goal.
Stretch Goal 3: iOS Version - £15,000
We would dearly love to make an iOS version but need to be able to pay somebody to work on porting the game as well as additional costs for GUI controls and additional test devices. If we get this far, the iOS version will be available on the iPad on release alongside the PC Mac and Linux versions.
We firmly believe in this project’s potential and want to be open and honest about where your money will be going. There are several factors to consider and we’ve broken down the budget by section for you. The actual game budget requirement is £13,000 but we are putting in £3000 or our own money upfront bringing our Kickstarter fund goal to £10,000.
The core team consists of two people, lead programmer and lead artist who have both agreed to work for just their living costs (rent, bills and food). So you know that no money is being wasted on frivolities and every penny is going into making the game as polished as it can be.
Here’s how we will be spending your hard earned bloin.
Soundtrack and SFX: £1000
Business and Office Costs: £585
Art Production – Concepts/Sketches/Comic: £700
Particle and Visual Effects: £350
3D Artwork and Animation: £5190
Total Budget: £13,000
With £3,000 of our own money going into the project, this puts our total funding goal at £10,000.

Risks and challenges
Ludophobia is a small but growing company founded by two graduates with a dream. But big talk may not be enough to finish a project of this size.
Since forming the company, we have worked on a number of real-time game projects for corporate training, our clients include Kraft Foods, a local University and we are currently undertaking a number of small real-time game projects for a museum reopening in Southampton. We feel that this work in a short space of time really showcases our dedication and commitment.
Cubejumper is a passion project that we are willing to spend as much time on as is needed, even if it boils down to working weekends or bending spacetime itself to invent additional days in the week.
One of the things we feel gives us an edge is that we are happy to display a very early alpha version of the game as well as the initial concept idea that the game was based on. The work produced so far encompasses the core game mechanic that will be improved over months of iteration as we add features and hone in on the finished product.
But without your help, this cannot happen. Your donations will allow us to work full-time on the project and ensure that it can be completed.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
