Midwestern Knits is a 12 pattern collection, curated and edited by knitwear designers Carina Spencer and Allyson Dykhuizen. The collection features original designs from Ann Weaver, Melynda Bernardi, Adrienne Larsen, Emily Ringelman, Hope Vickman, Jennifer Waterbury Beaumont, Laura Hulslander, Laura Ricketts, Sarah Gresbach, and Rachel Anderson, as well as Allyson and Carina.
Each design is inspired by the heartland of America: the beauty in the landscape, the unique architecture, the history of the people, the struggles and pain in the industrial cities - from metro Chicago to the Straits of Mackinac, from historic Kansas City to Mount Rushmore. Our designs use locally sourced yarn from Lorna's Laces, Dream in Color, Knits in Class, Mrs. Crosby Plays, Plucky Knitter, Nerd Girl Yarns, Stonehedge Fiber Mill, and more. Essays written by the designers will accompany each design as a tribute to the inspiration. Midwestern Knits will be available as an e-book and a print book in August 2015.

Risks and challenges
We’ve never done this before! Holla Knits, Allyson Dykhuizen’s online magazine, is in it’s 3rd year and has given her the confidence to be able to edit a whole collection, but this will be her first book. Carina Spencer is a prolific designer but also has never before published a book. As resourceful women with years of experience in the fiber arts industry, we are confident that we have what it takes to put this collection together for you. The money from this campaign is to pay our designers, tech editors, graphic designers, and for the initial printing. We believe in this project and know that if you put your trust in us we will not let you down!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
