Murderous ghost warriors...
Diabolical elderly bellboys...
Alcoholic airplane pilots...
This rampaging slab of shot-on-video horror anti-sanity was directed by exploitation auteur James Bryan in 1990, but remains unedited, unscored and never seen by human eyes... unless we do something about it.
In the '70s and '80s, James Bryan had moved from adult movies to action epics like Lady Street Fighter to moderate success with horror work like Don't Go In the Woods. But the straight-to-video distribution market was gradually evaporating, a realization he had only after he'd completed principal photography on Jungle Trap, a particularly bizarre project that he'd tackled with his longtime creative partner, producer/actress Renee Harmon. Distributors were folding across the industry and those remaining were no longer adventurous enough to take on a project as unique as Jungle Trap. Heartbroken, the fearless cinematic legend James Bryan shelved his new movie and never directed again.
An outgrowth of the long-running Bleeding Skull review site, Bleeding Skull! Video was started for the express purpose of exhuming unseen independent horror/exploitation films of the late '70s and early '90s and making them available to the universe. All three of us Bleeding Skull Video goons were already devoted fans of James Bryan's work, but had no idea that Jungle Trap had even been attempted. It wasn't until we were working with him on a different project that he mentioned its existence, and we were shocked that he had an entirely unseen feature just waiting to be pieced together. We watched it and confirmed that all the parts were there. And they were unbelievable.
While Jungle Trap does exist, it's in a very raw form. The film is completely unedited and in very serious need of a sound mix. Also, there's no musical score. If we reach our funding minimum, this Kickstarter campaign will cover the costs of hiring a professional film editor to complete the movie to the director's approval, as well as cover a final reconstructing and mastering of the audio. Also, a new (but period-accurate) original soundtrack will be recorded under the guidance of James Bryan, using '80s synthesizers and accurately emulating the sound of the era.
Even in its current state, the movie is HUGELY entertaining, but it will be a monumental video era triumph in its long-delayed final form. It was not only James Bryan's final directorial effort (to date), but his last collaboration with his longtime collaborator, the late producer/writer/actress Renee Harmon. The duo spent two decades together in the exploitation trenches and Jungle Trap ranks high among their best work. We feel it must be completed so it can be shared and deeply enjoyed by the world's most adventurous viewers. Including you.

Risks and challenges
We have no doubt that the support of likeminded exploitation/horror enthusiasts will allow us to finally assemble James Bryan's 25-year-old homemade supernatural masterpiece. Editors, musicians and technological wizards are at the ready to make it so.
With the master tapes tested and in hand, there is nothing to delay us. But if any problems do arise, we're dedicated to overcoming them and getting the movie released by the end of this year. It will happen because it MUST happen.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
