Google's Cheetah: A peek into life in Surveillance Valley

A 6 personas les gusta

We have officially entered the last week of the Surveillance Valley campaign. It's been a great and rewarding experience, and I'd like to mark the occasion by sharing a short film with you.

My good friend Zam, a filmmaker in Los Angeles, was inspired by my book project and made a short teaser about life in Surveillance Valley. It is set in the near future, and gives a glimpse into a world where Google’s vast surveillance apparatus gets connected to the company's robotics division. In this case: Google's Cheetah — a real robot that's funded by the U.S. military and made by a Google subsidiary

It's a funny little clip. It's also a bit scary. Because it shows a future that's right around the corner.

Check it out:

As I write this, the campaign is 92% funded. I want to thank everyone who supported the project. I couldn’t have come this far without you.

@Peter That really is the test. If it makes sense to a 12 year old, then we're doing our job right.

I just showed the video to my 12 year old. It opened his eyes. Thanks! And smash Google. Hear that you holes?
