LAND I An immersive exhibition and creative space, combining printed textiles and a living plant installation.
This is a collaborative project between textile designer Laura Slater and The Plant Room (Zosia Berkieta-Lewis). For London Design Festival, September 2018, we will work together to make an indoor, installation space that allows visitors to engage in Laura Slater’s new collection as well as participate with her creative process.
With a shared interest in developing our personal practices through exploring new ways of designing space, we have embarked on a collaborative project inspired by the landscape and nature focusing on making meaningful and engaging creative experiences.
In the summer of 2017 Laura explored the Scottish landscape surrounding Cove Park.
“During my time there, the natural landscape gave me the time and space to create a body of work, exploring the potential of pattern and its ability to connect us to the environment. This is the foundation for my new design collection ‘LAND’”. - Laura
Three years ago Zosia became increasingly interested in wellbeing and making and exploring spaces that incorporated plants and nature. Out of this interest grew The Plant Room, a studio project originally conceived as an exhibition.
“Taking inspiration from biophilia and biophilic design we make spaces with people and plants in mind. In these spaces people can come together and be creatively inspired.”- Zosia
“In our previous collaborations we made environments encouraging creative exploration and confidence. For London Design Festival, we intend to build on these foundations to create an interactive space, inviting visitors to engage in their own creativity surrounded by the restorative nature of plants.” - Laura & Zosia
