Starlight Inception is the rebellious stepchild of Wing Commander, X-Wing and Freespace 2, taking a fresh approach to a classic genre.
Starlight Inception is the rebellious stepchild of Wing Commander, X-Wing and Freespace 2, taking a fresh approach to a classic genre.
3,724 backers pledged $158,152 to help bring this project to life.

26 Hours Left, $40K to go!

With just over 26 hours, we are firmly entering final approach...

And with your help, we have gotten so much closer to our goal over the past few days.  We have had a lot of new backers join the project, and an incredible outpouring of support come from many different channels.  You are all making the difference, and letting the world know that space sims are alive and well, and definitely not a dead genre!

I'm still hearing from lots of people that they are just learning about this project.  Even people who are backing other Kickstarter projects haven't heard about us. That means we have to continue spreading the word.  And for those of you who haven't come over and liked our Starlight Inception FB page, please come on in - there will be news in the coming weeks, and other nuggets on the FB site, in conjunction with our web presence at Escape Hatch Entertainment.

Keep tweeting, FB'ing, bugging your friends, blogging, pledging what you can and spreading the word - we have accomplished much, and we CAN make this happen together.

One of our concept artists delivered a fresh new piece of art today, finalizing a lot of the details and a preliminary color scheme on Fighter "E" (we have to come up with a cool name for this one...and not E-Wing!)

Remember, the links to these images can be right clicked on if you want to download the image.  The linked image is significantly higher resolution than what you're seeing here.

Fighter E, out amongst the stars, searching for a name...

The folks at Camouflaj and Logan studios are raising funds to develop a cool new game called Republique.  They are industry professionals and need some funding love as well.  If you've got a minute, please check the project out at:  They have been gracious enough to cross promote our game through their last update, and I really appreciate their kind support.

Feel free to keep shooting questions over to us via send message, or other means of communication on Kickstarter and we'll get to them as quickly as we can.

Thank you again for your support, and let's make this thing happen!

Kindest Regards,

Since it's already an "E" fighter, my vote goes to something that uses the letter "E" :P

      What about.... Excelsior?

      About naming the various spacecraft.
If you're going for "gritty and realistic", then using the MDS designations that military aircraft use today would probably fit the bill.

Bah... if I had 10k, I'd drop it on this game. I'm hoping a very wealthy individual discovers this project in the next 3 hours...

If everyone in the $15 tier upped their pledge to $45, this would be funded... Come on guys, we can do it!

I think that fighter should be called "The Minotaur". The side weapon pods (wings, thrusters, whatever) remind me if bull horns. Besides, I always prefer when ship naming follows a theme, mythological creatures leaves lots of options. If you call it the Trident, you could follow a legendary weapon names theme.

If you don't make the goal, try resubmitting. You've undoubtedly learned alot about kickstarter and you've got some sweet concept art. I would gladly fund this game again.

I like the Trident suggestion, but E-Wing just makes me think of Dallas. So call it the Trident JR-1.

      Call it "The Trident"?

Fingers are firmly crossed. I wish I could give more...

I just downloaded Wing Commander Saga and now I'm remembering just how much I missed the entire Genre :-)
So I doubled my pledge and keep my fingers crossed...
Regarding my new desktop wallpaper (aka "Fighter E"): That thing, in all it's grand, awe-inspiring uglyness, reminds me of the old Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt. So, maybe "Warthog" would be the name for it... ;-p

Heheh, I was already a supporter of both XS.

And yes, resubmission of projects is totally doable, there are a number of projects on kickstarter, a few who just succeeded finally, who are on their 2nd or 3rd time around the block.

(If you haven't, next time you could) Ask youtube celebrities who review games to look at your project. Like TotalBiscuit or Jesse Cox. TB has done a few kickstarter reviews and Nekro, which was reviewed) got a ton of backers.

      It's the final countdown!
I hope that even if this fails, you guys will try a resubmission or something, since as said above, people are still just learning about the game.

If that's even possible, that is (I don't really know much about Kickstarter).
