Q&A about game; launch all fighters!

We've been getting a lot of questions related to the game, and wanted to post a Q&A video that answers some specifics about gameplay, the new additions to the team, and the concept art.

We'll also be posting this video on youtube - and putting the link on the main Kickstarter page.

As of Tueday, we'll have seven days remaining on this Kickstarter. Now is the time to make the push for more backers through whatever means possible. If you have a twitter account, make sure you mention the project and give a link to the Kickstarter page and/or this new Q&A video. If you can do anything over your Facebook page, a mention really helps. We are almost 1800 strong. Let's assert our will to tell the world that the space sim genre is not dead, and that this game deserves to be made.

Thank you for all your efforts,
Garry

Thanks for the link. The video on this page requires flash but on youtube it uses HTML5 player.

The video is very good... I believe it will attract backers to back the project.

Never mind my question. I should have watched the video first. I certainly feel sheepish. Thanks for humoring me.

Hi guys, I wanted to say that I'm looking forward to you game coming out. As a teenager, I was a huge fan of the Wing Commander and X-Wing series. Microsoft also came out with a similar game, called StarLancer. I loved the game, but didn't enjoy the complexity of the controls, combined with the lack of support for game controllers, like a PlayStation or X-Box style game pad containing dual analog controllers and 10 to 12 programmable buttons. I felt that such support would have really given that game greater appeal and longevity. Will Starlight Inception include default support for game pad controls?

Sent a message to you about this as well - but the IGDA actively promotes game projects on kickstarter - fill out http://www.igda.org/kickstarter to be among them

I have no intentions on spamming GoG or anywhere for that matter. I'm not a member of many online communities, and don't have any pull in the industry in general. I didn't see a thread on the first pages of the forums I mentioned, so I threw one up. I'm just trying to help this game out as best as I can. Anyways, I guess I'll just leave things to the folks who know how to spread the word better than I. I've made my pledge, convinced some friends to pledge, talked about the game in the few communities I'm involved with, so now I just simply say, good luck Escape Hatch, I really hope you get your funding. Have a nice day.

Also, don't spam gog with comments, you'll get negative PR from that :)

@gregory Myers already mentioned on gog.com, there's a whole thread about kickstarter

I just posted a couple threads on GoG.com with a link to this campaign. I put one in the general forums and I put one in the Freespace forum. If you have an account with them go bump the threads and show Starlight Inception some support.

If the worst happens and this fails to get kickstarted will it still be under development in another method? As Josh mentioned above something like a preorder to help make it or such? This sounds like finally something to bring back the glory days of Tie Fighter for me!

@Josh...I don't know exactly all the forums to tap into, but if you look on GoG.com, you will see that some of the most popular games purchased on their are the old school space sims. I myself purchased Freespace 2 there a couple months ago. They have forums and might get some interest on this project if something is posted there.

haha, that was so cheesy, but I can tell you guys are legitimate, and all the sci-fi/ actual science talk gives you major nerd credentials in my book. I like you guys, and I like this game. II will continue trying to spread the word, but even if this kickstarter were unsuccessful, I for one would be willing to pre-order in much the same manner that I did for one of my other favorite games, grim dawn, before it also had it's own kickstarter. Speaking of backing, I'm sure you guys must have heard of this recently: http://www.wcsaga.com/news-archive-2012/wing-commander-saga-saw-50k-downloads-in-24h.html

50K downloads? Surely there are people there that can be tapped into to support this project? Does anyone on here know what forums would be best?

      Hi Tomi -

The Q&A is entirely contained in the video. You shouldn't need Flash to play it, as far as I know? We have also posted this video on youtube.com - the link is http://youtu.be/3OkvvjKN1a0

Uhm. Are the Q&A somewhere as text? I don't have Adobe Flash installed and I won't install it. Also theora or webm (which are common HTML5 video formats) will do the job.
