Congrats on the degree, Melissa. Soundtrack's all squared away here.
@cyxceven: I just emailed you the soundtrack code and step by step instructions on how to order it (no cost) and download it. Please let us know if you need anything else.
Again my sincere apologies for the delay. I'm graduating from a Master's program so I have been a bit overwhelmed with emails and internships. Life should be easier now. Please feel free to email me directly at email@example.com if you need anything. We are still here. We are still supporting Starlight Inception. In fact we have big news coming within the next day or two!! Thank you all so much for your patience and loyalty. We sincerely appreciate it.
@Jonathan: I just emailed you the soundtrack code and step by step instructions on how to order (no cost) and download it. Yes the PDF book is still in process.
Hey all: I apologize. It's my fault. I have been buried in emails.
@Jonathan: We recently changed the process for soundtracks. I'll be back in touch ASAP.
@Shane: I just emailed you your Steam key. I will be back in touch ASAP with the soundtrack code.
@cyxceven: I responded to you via KS private message with your Steam key. We did receive your survey today.
Again, I apologize for being buried in emails again. Always feel free to email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org and mark it URGENT with even a "hey Melissa" in the subject line! Thanks everyone for your patience.
Never got a key. Need a refund here.
Like a few other people who have already commented , any chance of getting the steam key?
I have emailed email@example.com and no reply yet.
I sent email to the eheinfo address a week ago but haven't received a reply. I, too, need a replacement soundtrack key, since I was waiting for the DRM-free game before downloading everything and apparently the key expired in the meantime.
I assume the art book PDF is still pending?
@Bogoy - the Sony process has been incredibly frustrating - we fix every bug they throw at us, and yet, then the next time we submit, they find another new one. We are still persisting with the process, but I won't use the word "keeper" again.
"PS3: Submitting to Sony for the sixth(!) time - we think this one is the keeper. " ... uhm yeah... that was middle of february... any update? Just feels strange the next game already being on steam, while some people yet have the honor to experience the basically finished first one ;)
Thanks for the answer :). I'll just wait!
@tarasis - Melissa will be generating a new Soundtrack code for you (it will work with our new shopping site at shop.eschatch.com). In addition, she will send over a Steam code while you wait.
@Nizar - if you would like a Steam code for the game, while you wait for the joystick configurator, please send a request over to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Not a bother, @Nizar - Adam and his team are working on the joystick configurator - the initial layouts are done now, and the core programming is completed, so it is a case of wiring it up in engine and testing. We expect to be putting something up on the Steam beta branch within two weeks (but this will change if there are complications), and then (finally) building a DRM free version and delivering a box set once this is completed.
Sorry to bother you with that again, but do you have any update for the DRM free version? Did I miss something?
Cheers EHE :)
Realised today that I never got the DRM free version that I believe I fill in the survey for, nor a steam key and that the old shop website is gone so I can't redownload the soundtrack. Created a new account onthe new shop (http://shop.eschatch.com/) on the off chance you migrated my order over, but it seems not.
If you want to check out the new bug database, it is at www.unitedstarforce.com\mantis
In addition, we are establishing an online bug database for people to report issues with Starlight Inception and Starlight Tactics, rolling out a new forum (you can check them out at www.unitedstarforce.com\vanillaforums ) and starting up our beta testing for Starlight Tactics, so we have definitely been busy. :)
Hi tarasis - we just did an update on www.facebook.com/starlightinception and haven't ported it over to Kickstarter yet -
Hello. Here is a quick update on Starlight Inception for all planned platforms.
Thanks for stopping by!
PS3: Submitting to Sony for the sixth(!) time - we think this one is the keeper.
PC Steam: After PS3, we plan on wrapping up the joystick support for PC, as well as incorporating six months worth of fixes. We will be releasing the new Steam update as well as the DRM-free version at that time.
Vita: Then back to Vita to incorporate fixes, as well as optimizations that will lower the size of the game.
PS4: Shortly thereafter, we will be submitting PS4 to Sony.
Game feedback? Please email us at email@example.com
Been awful quiet for a while. What's happening at the moment?
Hi, Any word when the PC edition is coming out?
Translation is fine. The PS3 includes features which aren't present in the PS Vita version (split screen mode for four players being one of them). In addition, there are different multiplayer hoops we need to jump through than on Vita. The other issue has been support for non-HD resolutions that really played havoc with our UI, but is now fixed. All in all, not a pleasant experience, but we're hoping this has prepared us well for PS4, which is shaping up to be pretty amazing graphically. Sorry again for the lack of news - we will make sure this doesn't happen again.
Thanks for the update ;) Not knowing whats going on is worse than bad news - sorry to hear you've been kicked trice - is that just because of the translation? The game as sucht as been out on the PSN Store in the US for a while now, so I guess bugs can't be the reason? :)
@ Bogoy, @C.J. Hall - sorry for the radio silence - we've actually submitted to Sony FQA three times and they have kicked us three times. We are planning to submit the fourth (and hopefully) final submission on Monday.
Adam has been making a lot of headway on the PS4 version as well, and we hope to submit it sometime in the next three months.
In addition, we are planning to make a formal announcement about our new Starlight iOS game very soon.
We'll be doing a full update in the coming week.
Uhm... hello? Anbody there?
Yeah... "PS3 SCEA / SCEE STATUS: Submitting in two weeks " ... that was 2 months ago... any news?
PS3 version status?
So, uh, I also have yet to recieve any key, despite having answered the questionnaire.
I sent an E-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org last friday, but haven't gotten a reply.
Hi there. I am extremely confused. I saw the game has been out since April. Any chance I can get that key sent out? I completed the questionnaire and so you should have already sent it, but i never received anything....
Thanks for the update!
You got it James! Let me know if you need anything else. Thank you for the support!
@JDZ - We have been working on integrating the fixes on the PS Vita side into the PS4 build. Plus we are working through all the comments from Sony QA on the PS3 build.
Therefore we anticipate the release date for PS3 to be end of September 2014 and the PS4 build to be end of December 2014.
@AKASlaphappy - we have located a company to serve the final build. Now we are going through the paperwork and readying the final build for upload to them. This process is taking longer than we had hoped but we want to ensure we get the DRM-free version to a place that will be able to handle it appropriately.
We will send an update to those who selected this option once we know more.
Thanks for taking care of me, Melissa!
Hi Garry or Melissa,
$350 backer here... I sent an e-mail to email@example.com last week Thursday regarding not having received my keys and haven't heard a reply back yet. Could someone take a look at that for me?
I don't suppose you have an update to the ps3 or ps4 release?
Any news on the DRM free version?
We plan on resubmitting this week - there are a few bugs we're fixing, but the PS3 build is very solid and incorporates all of the fixes and enhancements we did for Vita.
How far along is the PS3 version?
@kev - We are an indie company. We did as much testing as the budget would allow, however, we are committed to making this the best game that we can. We encourage you to send in constructive feedback at firstname.lastname@example.org, if it is not redundant to what is already planned, to help make the patch and the game stronger.
My original question at starlightinception.com was deleted.. so I'll ask it here:
this is a serious question.. Why was the vita version released? It's quite clear this version is not ready for release. Was there a discussion about releasing it before it's ready? I know you guys need to turn a profit but I think you actually hurt the game's chances by releasing what is essentially a retail beta.
Even if you do manage to patch some of the games biggest problems I don't think you will be able to put the bad press back into the bottle..
Can you talk about the beta testing process? Why were so many bugs/glitches/issues not fixed before release? I played the beta in within 10 minutes I had a list of things that should have been fixed but wasn't.
At this time, we are hard at work on releasing a patch for the Vita and PC version, and releasing the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions. After that, we will consider further content. Rest assured, if we release future content, it will be completely free for backers.
Any chance you guys can release a proposed road map? The rewards for supporting this project includes "future DLC". I'd be especially interested in hearing what your plans are for that, along with patch release dates.
It would also be nice to hear if any or all of that is threatened by a dearth of sales, should some of these reviews on-line have an impact.
The patch we are currently working on will have a 'quick match' option which will find the next available match, regardless of room. We'll definitely look at your other suggestions - thank you.
I'd want to suggest adding a multiplayer search option for "Any Game type", sometimes finding a match is more important than it being a specific mode, as well as an option to cancel out of the search at any time (using Esc and the B button on the 360 pad preferably), instead of having to wait until it sets up a new lobby if there is none found. Maybe even having the game ask if the player wants to create a new match or return to the multiplayer menu if no match is found.
@NeoTechni - Thank you for the kind words. You are correct about the HUD - it was something I was looking at tonight while tweaking the Chicago level...I wanted to share the first pass on the UI (and also a peak at the newly expanded level view). Again, this isn't final yet, but at least a peak at where it's going.
I especially like the first person exploration mode, but it doesn't obey my invert Y setting
I read IGN's review and sadly I have to agree with a few things
-You seem to be rendering the HUD at a higher resolution, then shrinking it down without any anti-aliasing. Resulting in missing lines of pixels, making the text hard to read as it looks cut-off
-The distance between waypoints is boringly large. I actually had narcolepsy attacks between them without being affected in-game
-That second level did look as foggily bad as Superman64. I thought it was a glitch, actually and took screenshots to send you.
-But I am impressed at the graphics, and especially the voice acting and CD quality music since these are things Nintendo is too lazy to do. You even have online multiplayer, to drive that point home.
I have been in touch with IGN's editor and writer directly. I thanked them for their time and review. While it was tough to read, as Garry said, there are nuggets to take from it.
Ultimately we all want the same thing - a great game. And I am proud to be a part of it.
That is a genuinely terrible review - seems very biased, and we don't agree with everything said in the review (for one thing, he the reviewer doesn't understand how target assist works) but there are definitely nuggets to take from it that can help improve the game.
We have been hard at work on the first Vita patch, which will include better animations for the characters, a retweak of level 02, some UI retweaks, as well as other responses to bugs and feedback, and we are committed to improving the game beyond these changes. We can only hope that IGN is open to the idea of looking at the game again, once these improvements have been made.
