A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
About this project
The official licensed plush project is brought to you by veteran toy designer Erick Scarecrow (esctoy.com) along with the blessings from Oddworld Inhabitants. This project marks the first time Abe and Munch will be rendered in plush toy form. Each 10” plush toy is made of super soft velour fabric and detailed with fine embroidery. Hidden in each toy is a digital sound chip. Squeeze Abe or Munch to activate the soundbite and hear them speak! Every plush includes a hang tag and a soft, textured character tag. The images contained in this campaign are of prototypes in the early stages of development. All plush are safety tested for ages 15 and up.
With the blessing of Oddworld Inhabitants, ESC-Toy Ltd. are offering a variety of rewards to help us reach the goal of our campaign and make these plush toys a reality. You can pick Abe or Munch - or grab both! We’re offering plenty of early bird spots so Oddworld fans can claim their rewards at a reduced price. Pledges do not include shipping.
We are also offering multiple limited edition plush toys and matching character tags.
Abe’s friend Alf, and the namesake of Alf’s Rehab & Tea, will be available in limited quantities as a 10” plush and character tag set. The Mudokon is equipped with his favorite red fez. Alf comes in a set which also includes the 10” Abe and Munch plushes and character tags. Shipping is free for this limited edition set.
Lulu Munch, comes decked out in Lulu’s signature purple dazzle. This homage to the unlikely key to saving the nearly extinct Gabbits, this limited edition 10” plush comes with its own character tag set. Lulu Munch is part of a set that also includes the 10” Abe and Munch plushes and character tags. Shipping is free for this limited edition set.
The Master Set is a super limited edition bundle that includes all of the above plushies and character tags, as well as a few designs exclusive to this set. The 10” Abe, Munch, Alf, and Lulu Munch plush toys and character tags are all here, as are oversized 20” Abe and Munch plush toys. This bundle also includes a 20” x 30” art print signed by Oddworld creator, Lorne Lanning, and toy designer Erick Scarecrow.
COLLECTIBLE PVC TAGS
Each 10” Oddworld plush comes with a collectible character tag. These tags are made of soft, flexible PVC plastic and are sculpted with details that make each design pop with life. Leave them on your plush, hang them on your wall, or add them to your keychain! See the preliminary designs above.
These are some of our stretch goals if we are able to surpass our campaign goal.
Hailing from a third world meat factory, Abe is proclaimed by his species as the Messiah of the Mudokons. This title was bestowed upon him after his repeated successful liberations of many species from oppressed working conditions. Through his adventures, he has always shown a good heart and eagerness to help others despite being clumsy to a fault. The skin of his race have the attribute of reflecting the color of their inner mood. It is because of this trait, that Abe is a distinct shade of blue which symbolizes his sadness for his race.
Latamire Munch, or Munch for short is the last known Gabbit on Oddworld. Gabbits are amphibious creatures who used to inhabit the waters of Oddworld. His species was harvested into near extinction for experiments, medical resource, and as a delicacy. Upon hearing about the last can of Gabbiar, Munch strives through a rigorous plan with the help of Abe to steal the gabbit eggs back. With his race on the line, Munch shows more determination on the mission which sometimes makes him seem less compassionate of others. However, he is known as a Freedom Fighter by the Fuzzles he liberates while in captivity.

Risks and challenges
Every project may have obstacles but we are very confident that we will deliver finished quality goods in a timely manner. Some possible challenges include unforeseen manufacturing or shipping delays. With a production of this size, sometimes customs clearance delays can be an issue as well. We're experienced in resolving these challenges and have done our best to plan ahead to keep us on the production/fulfillment schedule.
To offset these potential risks we will be shipping all physical goods based on backing order. First in, first shipped. Also, we will be regularly updating our campaign and are always reachable outside of Kickstarter via http://www.esctoy.com/contactsupport/
