“Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were, but without it we go nowhere.” - Carl Sagan
In 1977, George Lucas showcased his imagination to the world in the form of the sci-fi epic, Star Wars. The following sequels, The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and The Return Of The Jedi (1983) and then prequels The Phantom Menace (1999), Attack of the Clones (2002) and finally Revenge of the Sith (2005) would create one of the largest and most successful film franchises of all time.
My Saga - A Star Wars Documentary is a journey in exploring the bonds between new and old Star Wars fans as we approach the release of Episode VII in December 2015. There is a special focus on parents who grew up with the original trilogy and now sharing that same anticipation and experiences with their own children.
For one fan of these films his first experience with the Star Wars Universe would change his life forever.
Adam Harris, a Star Wars fan in Brisbane, Australia had an event that would set up on a path of him living his dream. In October 2010 he was diagnosed with a brain abnormality called a cavernoma hemangioma (tumour like growth). This was discovered the week his second child was born due to him suffering a massive bleed in his brain. After nine days he was told it was too dangerous to operate and he was discharged. Adam now has to undergo constant scans and medical follow-ups for the rest of his life.
There was a promise he made himself when he left that hospital and that was to pursue his dream to become a film-maker.
When Disney announced the beginning of a new Star Wars Saga it inspired him to create this documentary. It would combine his two greatest loves: Star Wars and his family, especially the bond he created with his now five year old son, Jack Anakin Harris.
Adam's journey with Jack will play a central role in this documentary. Both Adam and Jack will embark on an incredible adventure for the next 16 months as they interview other fans, cast and crew from the films and animated TV series, exploring the bonds they have with the Star Wars universe and the legacy that they hope to leave behind for future generations of fans and to their children.
We will also watch Adam and Jack as they share those special moments and events (e.g. teaser trailers & merchandising releases) leading up to them walking into a theatre to watch Episode VII together.
What will the funds be used for?
Currently we have had some interest from some principal cast members from the films and the TV shows and this is where we need your help. Most of where these people are located are overseas (USA and UK) and we need your assistance in getting there.
- Travel expenses;
- Some gear rental (overseas only)
- Some Post Production
We have already managed to secure private transportation when we reach these destinations, some crew have already secured there flights over and all other expenses are coming out of our own pockets such as accommodation and food. We have already invested money in gear
We require this final amount to get the remaining crew and gear over, as the chance to interview cast & crew who have been involved in the making of these films and television shows is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Risks and challenges
As we are filming this documentary over the next 16 months we have the ability to invest our time and passion in to creating a definitive Star Wars Documentary about the fans.
But there are always challenges...
As we are wishing to interview people in the USA and UK getting the interviews locked in around the same time will prove a tough task and we are hoping in the coming months we can have firmer dates in place.
If we are unsuccessful in our attempt in crowd-funding then we will still continue on our path to reach the required destinations to complete this documentary. We want to share this amazing journey with all the Star Wars fans out there. As Yoda once said, Do or do not, there is no try".Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
