We're almost at our goal! As a special THANK YOU for your pledge, we're now including a traditional Guatemalan pompom with each order ❤️ Perfect addition to your bag or your home!
It's been almost three years now since we launched our artisanmade business on Kickstarter. We started with custom-made boots, and since then we have incorporated many new designs: more boots, shoes, bags, and accessories. We've made it a priority to partner with talented local artisans, and we're ready to increase our social impact!

At Kakaw Designs, we're sticklers for the handmade. Everything we do is done with great attention to detail, and we want to launch our newest products on Kickstarter at discounted pre-order prices ❤️
Let me explain why: as we've grown, we've felt the strain of increased costs involved with keeping stock for each product as well as product development for new items. Every new design involves trial and error (especially working with rural artisans, because of cultural, linguistic, and geographic barriers), and it also means one more product needed to maintain inventory, both in Guatemala and in the US. For a small business, this can take its toll.
That's where you come in. We're here on Kickstarter to really focus on our work with the women artisans: weavers and embroiderers. Our samples are ready, and now we just need you to pledge so that we can start production with pre-orders. That way, we can bypass stocking costs and offer these products at a discounted price. We will be incorporating many of there handmade items into our store at kakawdesigns.com after the completed project.

Risks and challenges
Because we've done this before, we feel pretty confident about the whole process involved in having a Kickstarter project. One issue that is always part of the handmade process is that it can take a while to make the products... and the larger the order, the longer it will take. That's why we have limited the number of products and spaced out our shipments to allow sufficient time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
