THE WILDLANDS: The East
The East and its fertile golden plains surrounding the Shining Sea, ideally sunny land for agriculture and trade, saw the birth of the most powerful civilization in the recent history of mankind: The Empire of the Black Sun. The Empire’s black-armored legions spread out over the eastern plains like a sprawling monster, punishing by flames the villages and people standing in their way. At the core of the Empire is Lux, the glorious capital of black-marble columns, and host of the original temple of the Cult of the Black Sun.
During the ascension of the Cult and its official declaration as the unique religion of the Empire, a part of the imperial territory officially separated and claimed its freedom and the status of Free Republic. The Republic of Thalos is a society built on opposition to the Empire and its values, highlighting the human virtues expressed by the arts and philosophy. From its schism with the Empire, the Republic kept the legendary naval fleet and powerful flat war ships built to sail and fight within close distance of the shore.
The High Plains are the hunting ground of The Horde. Originally a simple caravan of Katai warriors, the Horde became a giant and ever-moving army, roaming the dry plains of the Wildlands' center and welcoming mercenaries from all over the world. The Horde is more dangerous, violent, and terrifying than the legends dare to tell. Its members, from every area in the Wildlands, modify their bodies as to spread terror in the ranks of their enemies. Scarifications, amputations, or sharp implants-- anything goes. The imperial soldiers and archers on the walls of the Thalos Republic all speak in whispers of how they imagine the Horde in their darkest dreams.
