Brian Bonz proudly presents Misophonia
Hey, all. We've never done this before, so this is all new and exciting for us. Welcome to this Kickstarter and thanks for visiting. After the release of our second record, The Triborough Odyssey, I decided a small break was necessary in order to reflect on things and start anew: putting out two records, working with a label, budgeting tours, and managing and balancing a life on the road and one lived at home. Most of all, creatively-speaking, I felt I needed to take initiative toward the more technological and production side of things; to experiment in achieving exactly what I'd hear in my head.
Misophonia is a project born out of this phase of my life. I'd scored a documentary for PBS about artwork in New York City's subway stations, and much of that material formed the record's blueprint. I experimented with sampling music and found sound, using new programs and abandoning any prior strictures with approaching previous work. Chris Bracco, who produced From Sumi to Japan, returns to collaborate on Misophonia. The Major Crimes continue their trek forward on this one, as well, along with both old and new guest musicians.
And so I'm turning to folks I’ve met on the road and friends at home in New York to help us see this record to completion. It’s always been an exciting leap forward into the unknown doing these things, and we want to marry that experience with organically connecting with those who genuinely care about the music via Kickstarter.
Furthermore, our interest in visual media has always brimmed at the surface and coincided with our music. As a companion piece to this Kickstarter, we'll debut our collaboration with interactive visual artist David Mignot and his Interactive Google Chrome Experiment (which must be seen to be believed), using music from Misophonia and available for your desktop or tablet device.
We're excited to get to do something like this and have folks contribute directly. Thank you for your consideration thus far, and for listening and following our music over the last few years.

Where's this money going, and where are we at now?
At the current moment, we're nearly halfway through the initial tracking phase. If we reach our goal, the funding goes toward completing tracking and general production and post-production costs: studio/engineer time, mixing rates, compensating musicians, CD replication, and the personal rewards to you guys, which are available in several different packages.
If we don’t make our goal, we won’t be able to cover our base production costs. We'll have to create a hopeful alternate plan to finish the record.
If we make our goal, not only does the record get made in the way that it should, but I'll have a small team of friends & family that'll help produce the rewards and get them out as soon as all the materials are assembled and organized. AND: if we exceed our goal, the additional funds will provide for distribution and press costs, leading to wider access to the record and greater visibility. Each and every backer will be mentioned and thanked on our website.
