Hello Dear Friends; old, new, and future!
We are Matriark Art Theatre based in Sydney, Australia with members hailing from various parts of the globe. We came up with this crazy plan to try to do a US Fringe Festival tour this summer and with your help it just might be possible! Against crazy odds we have been accepted in to the Capital Fringe (DC), Minnesota Fringe, NYC Fringe, and the Chicago Fringe. We are very excited that our company was picked out of the several hundred that applied to each festival.
What's the project you ask? It is an original, ensemble devised piece currently in the process of creation. While all members of Matriark are collaborating to bring this piece to life, Benjamin Vickers, Robert den Engelsman, and Brianna Kalisch will be taking it on the road. The play is inspired by a poem written by Ernst Toller and explores how we have, lose, and rediscover our faith in humanity. We plan to use a mix of theatrical styles to best tell this story including comedy, drama, movement, puppetry, and more!
We estimate at the very least it will cost $10,000 to pull off this tour. Funds raised here will go towards participation fees, visa fees, flights, production costs, and travel!! Even though the tour won't officially start until July we have several deadline fast approaching and need to book flights in advance.
The way Kickstarter works is that you, our lovely backers, make a pledge and choose a thank you gift. If we reach our goal, then and only then, will Kickstarter deduct your pledge from your account. If we don't reach our goal you keep your money and we keep dreaming :) As you can see we are on a tight schedule, we have ONLY 30 DAYS to reach our goal.
If you are able, please help make this dream a reality!
Endless thanks and love,
Benjamin, Bobby, and Brianna
