Beatrice #1 Now at the iBookstore!
Great news, everybody! The first issue of Beatrice -- featuring the interviews with memoir writers Darin Strauss, Deb Olin Unferth, and Alina Simone -- is now available as a free ebook for the iPad through Apple's iBookstore. Here it is!
(Because of the embedded videos, this is slightly larger than the typical ebook file, so you will need WiFi on your iPad or a high-speed Internet connection for your desktop iTunes in order to download the file. But I just did it, and it took less than two minutes!)
I'm really psyched at how this turned out, and can't wait to follow it up with #2, featuring Jodi Picoult and debut novelists Nick Dybek and Alice Albinia. As the first $2.99 issue, that's going to be a great test of the long-term viability of Beatrice. In the meantime, I'm doing more interviews; issue #3 is mostly in the can, with #4 and #5 already mapped out. (#3 is going to be an all-Jennifer issue--Weiner, Close, Bosworth--and #4 is shaping up to be an all-Chris issue--Cleave, Bohjalian, and Farnsworth. #5 I'll tell you more about when it's closer to completion...)
Thank you again to everybody who has supported Beatrice over the last few months. Without you, this wouldn't be possible.
