About

Hi. My name is Kris Peysen. I am a composer who recently graduated from the University of Louisville with a Masters in Music Composition. I got my undergrad degree at the University of North Texas. I've recently been accepted to attend the Music in the Mountains Conservatory, a summer music festival in Durango, Colorado, which takes place July 12 - August 1, 2015.

At the festival, I will take lessons and receive mentorship on composition and other aspects of the music field from professionals, attend masterclasses, and network with other musicians, which is very important for a composer. In addition, I will be writing a new piece specifically for student performers at the festival, which will be premiered on one of the festival's concerts.

If you want to know more about the festival, you can visit their website: http://musicinthemountains.com/mission.php?c=1

This will be an incredible opportunity for me as a composer and as a musician; however, I need help in order to attend. The full cost of attendence is $2400. I have received a scholarship of $200 from the festival; in addition, I have already paid a $200 deposit, which was due April 15th. The remaining $2000 is due on June 1st.

If the full cost of attending is $2000, you may be asking, then why do I only have a goal of $500? The answer to that is simple: on Kickstarter, no money is actually applied to a project until it reaches its funding goal. That means that if I set a funding goal of $2000, and don't get it all by the deadline, I would get nothing. In that case, I would rather get some money than no money at all. That's why I have set my goal at $500.

Please help me make this dream a reality. If you have money to spare, and want to help a young musician get started on his career - or, alternately, if you are interested in any of the rewards (see the column to the right) - please make a pledge. No amount is too small!

If you want to know more about me as a composer or to check out any of my music, please visit me at my website

Thank you.

Risks and challenges

There's virtually no risks with a project like this. If I get funded, I WILL be going to the festival, and I will be writing a piece for it. As for the pledge rewards, they are all something I am definitely capable of doing, considering my credentials (i.e. two college degrees in the area, as well as the pieces I have already written). I have no misgivings or trepidation regarding my ability to deliver on the pledge rewards.

Thank you.
