When Jan met Claudia last year in San Miguel de Allende Mexico, she was struck by Claudia's jewelry designs, her lovely persona, and how popular her jewelry was with the tourists and locals that stopped by her table at the Saturday Organic market. But when Claudia explained how she teaches 6 women at a correctional facility how make the jewelry, and that she pays them a wage much higher than the other work projects, Jan was impressed.
Most of the people who buy Claudia's jewelry are from North America, and many have told her "oh you should sell these in the U.S.!" Claudia would love to export and sell her jewelry in the U.S. via an online Etsy shop and trunk shows. And because Claudia is so dearly committed to teaching Mexican women of little resources to improve their lives, growing Claudia's business means helping other women.
Your contribution will:
- Allow Claudia to make 150 pieces of jewelry to export,
- Get a new logo for marketing purposes, including tags,
- Gift bags for the trunk shows,
- The beginnings of an online shop.
Risks and challenges
Some of the risk and challenges we may encounter are fulfilling orders on time for the holidays. Jan will be mailing the jewelry from the U.S. right after Claudia makes the jewelry in Mexico.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
