Flippin' Zombies v1.2
Will your craving for brains get the best of you? Think fast and make wise decisions. You want to live not just win.
You’re stuck in a warehouse with a zombie apocalypse taking place outside. The only survivors are you and your friends and you opponent and his friends. There are limited supplies that can only support one group. So, you can either start dishing out beat downs or start taking beat downs. Somebody will survive.
Will it be you? Will you have what it takes? Even if you become a member of the undead? Will your craving for brains get the best of you and jeopardize your group's survival? Or, will your opponent have the lone survivors?
Think fast and make wise decisions. You want to live, not just win.
All items shown above, come with the game (plus instructions).
This game isn't being produced by a large company or a small company for that matter. It's completely developed, illustrated, designed, implemented, organized and hopefully produced by one guy (and a bunch of people that put up with lots of product testing and lots of bad versions before this point was reached). This is what Kickstarter is all about. Giving somebody, with an idea, the ability to share it with many and the opportunity (if others think it's a good idea) to make it happen.
I'm thrilled to be putting "Flippin' Zombies" on Kickstarter and sharing something I've put so much time and effort into developing. So, contribute if you're interested. Email me if you have questions.
This is a TWO-PLAYER (see "Stretch Goals" for up to 4 players) game that can be played by anyone, but we recommend ages 8-99+. The rules are simple. If you can roll dice, draw cards and move players on a board similar to chess (without complicated moves) or checkers (without the jumping), you can play this game. This game is a nice balance of strategy, skill, and luck.
Here's an excerpt from the instructions...
- Pick your team color (red shirts or blue shirts) and their two respective six-sided dice.
- Place your game pieces at one end of the board, anywhere in the first row of spaces. Only one game piece per space. Your opponents game pieces go at the other end of the board.
- Place your game pieces green side down. These are your “humans” for the time being.
- Place one item (hockey stick and goalie mask) in each space marked “Flippin’ Zombies”.
- Set the “Graveyard” over to the side of the board. This is where you place deceased humans.
- Shuffle the game cards and set them off to the side within reach.
- Place the brains next to the cards.
- Start the game by each player rolling their dice. The highest number goes first.
- At the beginning of each turn...
Rules are not complicated and gameplay is fast. Grab items while you can to give yourself an advantage during attacks. Plan attacks wisely and defend the weak to help improve your chance for success. If you strike, strike with speed by rolling your dice quickly. If you have a spare brain laying around, use it to distract zombies but wait for the opportune time. Zombies are slow, but in groups they can be hard to avoid. Plan all you want but sometimes the draw of a card can "flip" your plans upside down, as well as your dead humans (making them ZOMBIES).
Here's the anatomy and lifecycle of a player piece. This will help you understand how this game is unique from others and exciting to play.
This concept of flipping the game piece to go from "dead human" to "undead" zombie achieves a few things. This makes it very easy to play. Gamers don't have to worry about what you can pick up and use. If you can use it, you'll be able to physically pick it up with the game piece. "Shirt" color never changes so it's easy to identify your team/friends whether human or zombie. Lastly, it's just plain cool that the same game piece can transition from human, to dead human, to zombie to dead zombie so simply.
If we reach our minimum financial goal of $5,000 it will allow us to produce the game as you see it above, which includes...1 - Set of instructions
1 - 5.5" x 5.5" x 2" Game box.
12 - Humans/Zombies with magnets to pick up objects
4 - Six-sided Dice (one pair of red dice, one pair of blue dice)
4 - Items (made from recycled bottle caps.)
1 - Graveyard
1 - Set of action cards (30 minimum)
2 - Brains (similar to what's shown below)
1 - 10" x 10" quad-fold game board
$20,000 - 4 player game will be available. Same components, just more of them and a larger box and game board.
$30,000 - Custom items/tokens and custom dice will be added to the game to improve the quality of the product as well as quality of game play.
Risks and challenges
All the design work, testing, graphic art and proper formatting for printing is complete. The only risks are those associated with vendors producing all the various components. They've all been identified, so as long as they deliver in reasonably acceptable time frames, the risks are minimal.
The challenge will be keeping the costs down. Short runs are expensive. The more you print/make the less expensive they are per unit. So, the more contributors to the project buying the game, the less challenging it will be in terms of cost. Cost savings will go back into the game.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
