About this project

The connection is not a square peg in a square hole, but its damn close. Marine Corps leadership was involved in murder, crime scene cover-up, narcotrafficking (cocaine, the drug of choice), the shredding of records, and the denial of injuries from exposure to deadly contaminants at both El Toro and Camp Lejeune.

The purpose of the project is to fund the publication on Create Space of a soft cover copy of BETRAYAL:  Toxic Exposure of U.S. Marines, Murder, and Government Cover-up.  The book is now available as an eBook on Amazon's Kindle.

You don’t have to believe in conspiracies to understand the threat to freedom of a small but powerful group of people in and outside of government subverting the Constitution, effectively executing a coup d'état. Not in the United States, this is a free country, you must be paranoid, we’re the good guys, you say.It is not hyperbole to say that thousands of Americans have fought and died for the right to remain free. Life was too often short for those who served and died to preserve our freedom to ignore the threats of a ‘shadow government.’

Even though it was a violation of law to sell arms to the Iranians, few Americans at the time objected to the excessive mark-up of sales of TOWs and Hawk missiles to Iran. After the taking of hostages from the U.S. embassy in Tehran in 1979, very few Americans held fond memories of this strategic Middle Eastern country and the Grand Ayatollah Khomeini. The diversion of funds from the sales of weapons to support the Contra War in Nicaragua and the prospect of the U.S. entanglement in a war in Central America were illegal and, even if it were not, had no chance of approval by Congress and the American public. The Reagan administration painted the picture of Contras as “freedom fighters,” good guys riding into town with their white hats taking on the gang of Communists that had forcefully taking over Nicaragua and were a threat to the hemisphere. Had those Americans with fat checkbooks known about the sale of illegal drugs to fund the Contras and the use of CIA proprietary airlines to transport the weapons from the U.S. to Central America and the drugs into the U.S., the source of funds from private donors would have dried up quickly.

At Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, CA, Colonel James E. Sabow was murdered to prevent the disclosure of an unlawful use of the base to transport cocaine into the U.S., using CIA proprietary airlines.  A former Marine and retired Army warrant officer with ties to CIA operatives investigated the death of Colonel Sabow and told Defense Department investigators that a DOD/Pentagon assassination team killed Colonel Sabow to prevent him from disclosing the illegal narcotrafficing. A former CIA contract pilot who flew tons of cocaine into El Toro and other bases told his story to Congress and Defense Department investigators. Independent medical experts provided forensic evidence of homicide. A ‘doctored autopsy’ photo was submitted in a Defense Department report to Congress in 2004.An NCIS cold case investigation was shut down in 2010; the special agent in charge never disclosed she was present at the crime scene; the sworn affidavit of expert pathologist was orally withdrawn. In the end, nothing matter. The government was determined to ignore the evidence of homicide.

The facts are that Marine veterans, dependents, and civilian workers were exposed to toxic chemicals at both Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, CA and Camp Lejeune, NC. The routes of exposure through ingestion in the water wells are clearly documented at Camp Lejeune and hidden in a fog of missing documentation at El Toro, but nevertheless present. Marines at both bases worked with TCE and other toxic chemicals without protective clothing and face masks. Many have died without 'connecting the dots' to military service.

Risks and challenges

Marketing BETRAYAL to a wide audience of veterans and the public is a project risk that has to be met when the soft cover copy of the book is published. Plan is to make widespread use of press releases, provide copies to interested military and environmental book reviewers, write articles on Salem-News.com and Veterans Today about the book, make ourselves available for radio and TV interviews, and book signings.
