Bridge to Edinburgh will bring Rhythmic Circus to Scotland to perform 100 shows as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
What is Bridge to Edinburgh?
Bridge to Edinburgh will bring Rhythmic Circus, America’s busiest touring music and dance ensemble, to Scotland and help spread their rhythm mania throughout the largest arts festival in the world. Not only will Rhythmic Circus perform an estimated 75 street shows throughout the thoroughfares of Edinburgh, they will also perform their production Feet Don’t Fail Me Now daily at the Assembly George Square Theatre from August 1st-27th.
Getting to the festival and performing there isn’t free. This is where you come in. While performances at the Assembly George Square Theatre will provide partial funding for this project, it will not be enough to cover all of Rhythmic Circus’ travel expenses, lodging and gear rentals while they are there.
As with every Kickstarter project, Bridge to Edinburgh must be fully funded before its time expires or no money changes hands. To be clear, if Rhythmic Circus doesn't meet their funding goal, your account will not be charged. This is an all or nothing campaign so Rhythmic Circus really needs your help to get the word out!
Though Rhythmic Circus is fully committed to performing at the Fringe Festival this summer, Bridge to Edinburgh’s success will greatly impact the overall success of the project (i.e. the Circus won’t have to sleep on the floor and will be able to afford the rental of quality instruments, ultimately making their performances infinitely better). Any funds pledged that exceed their original goal will be applied directly to enhancing the shows in Scotland.
In exchange for your support, the Circus has put together some pretty great reward incentives for you including: signed posters, signed CD’s, free tap shoes, personal performances by Rhythmic Circus, and many more. Please check them all out!
Thanks in advance to all of you who will help make this project possible.
Who is Rhythmic Circus?
Rhythmic Circus is a group of friends from different niches of the Minneapolis arts scene who had a dream of collaborating on a giant, high-energy rhythm experiment. In 2007, they started on a collision course toward the stage bringing ideas, talents, and a common goal of entertainment as they prepared for the first draft of Feet Don’t Fail Me Now, which premiered at The Ritz Theater for one lone weekend in the summer of 2008. Not only did the show do well, the company decided they might just be onto something here…
But what has happened since is the stuff dreams are made of.
Rhythmic Circus has been touring Feet Don’t Fail Me Now for two years building a reputation for leaving audiences around the world on their feet and dancing in the isles. Garnering rave reviews and awards at every turn (recently winning both “Outstanding Ensemble” and “Outstanding Performance” at the Sage Awards), the current production of Feet Don’t Fail Me Now has been seen by over 75,000 audience members, performed over 200 shows and still counting!
What is Feet Don’t Fail Me Now?
Recently named “Best Dance Performance of the Past 12 Months” by City Pages, Feet Don’t Fail Me Now is a fine-tuned, hard-hitting, funk train of music and dance. Appropriate for children of all ages (young and not so young), the show features four dancers and is enlivened by a seven piece band, vocalists and a very unique, one-man, a cappella, beat-boxing sensation. Blending live funk, rock, blues, soul, and rapid-fire, percussive tap dance, Feet Don’t Fail Me Now is guided by three main principles: light-hearted humor, energy and passion.
Non-stop entertaining throughout their show, the ensemble of Feet Don’t Fail Me Now brings dance to a new level of communication and entertainment while transforming their tap shoes into instruments of rhythm. Closing with the same detonation of rhythmic power as they open with, the troupe leaves it’s audience with a message of inspiration, urging each audience member to believe in the power of their dreams.
And after spending an evening with this troupe of friends whose love and respect for each other is tangible, witnessing in amazement the fruitarian of their collective dream, its hard not to believe that maybe following dreams is the only way to live...which is of course, what Rhythmic Circus has been trying to tell us all along.
“Backed by a live band always ready to bring the furious funk, these artists never seem to miss a beat while tapping, shuffling, snapping and stomping their way into everyone's hearts” –Caroline Palmer, Star Tribune, Minneapolis, MN
“This was modern tap with a street dance style backed up by musicians on sugary side of sweet. The honey coated audio tempered with the funkiest edge; think Shaft soundtrack, and it needs to be to keep up with the intense, energetic moves.” -Edinburgh Tonight, Edinburgh, Scotland
