What is Boca Santa:
Boca Santa is a little piece of Mexico situated in the heart of Brooklyn. It's a space for the community where one can hangout and enjoy authentic and fresh Mexican food in a relaxed atmosphere. At Boca Santa what you'll find is beautiful, organic, ethically sourced Mexican cuisine that'll leave you hungry for more.

One of our biggest goals is to introduce the beauty of Mexico to New York with not only the food and drink but also with its rich culture. The moment you step into Boca Santa you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped into a different world; everything from the decor and music to its food and warmth. I'm sincerely aiming for patrons to experience Mexico through my eyes.
What we are doing:
In addition to our lovely food, we are so excited to host a number of educational events and classes at Boca Santa in order to help build awareness of the Mexican culture. We intend on having weekly screenings of Mexican films, hold cooking classes along with cultural education classes for both kids and adults.

What we're cooking:
Breakfast will have great drip coffee, fresh juices and Mexican breakfast that ranges from breakfast tacos and pastries to fruit and chia bowls. Dinner will include aguas frescas, beer & wine cocktails and of course delicious Mexican food. We will offer vegan and gluten free options additionally, our produce will be seasonally sourced while our proteins will be locally sourced.
What are our expenses:
We've saved most of what we need but we still need a little help to cover kitchen equipment costs such as a commercial blender, refrigeration systems, fetco coffee makers, and a convection oven. And If we reach our goal, additional funds will go towards an herb garden on our roof!
Backstory:
I spent most of my childhood winters and summers in Mexico, I was lucky enough to be able to grasp the incredible beauty of what is Mexico at such an early age. The colors, the smells, the textures and all of the warm smiling faces have always meant so much to me.
With that acknowledgment also came an immense appreciation of food and an understanding of what it represented. Meals were an event for us, whether it was going to the street markets and picking out the freshest of ingredients for that day or watching all of my aunts get together to reminisce, laugh and cook together. I carry these warm experiences of what food embodies as a whole with me, and hope to pass them on through Boca Santa.
Career life:
I come from a background of fashion, I worked in sales and merchandising for a few years- numbers and market research were always the name of the game. But I realized my heart was in creating beautiful food and always had been, so I took a leap. I joined the Stonefruit team as a chef two months after its opening day, six months later I became head chef of such a creative and health forward cafe. I absolutely love what we have created at Stonefruit, It truly makes my heart happy. We are a team that works like clock work together, supplying the neighborhood with healthy and delicious food. Not a day goes by where we aren't amazed at the growth of Stonefruit and what is has become in the past three years.

Risks and challenges
While there are always risks in opening a restaurant, there is no doubt in our minds that Boca Santa will be successful for so many reasons.
We’ve done the research, walked the streets, lived/worked in the neighborhood and after countless surveys, Boca Santa proves to be a necessary addition to the neighborhood.
Boca Santa will be creating cultural experiences, a warm inviting place to gather, and healthy food that as of now is not readily available to people living in the neighborhood.
In addition, I've been fortunate enough to have been part of the opening of a local eatery where I learned how to listen to the community wants and needs and been able to act on them, I was able to see first hand what it takes to get a business off the ground. I am eternally grateful for the experiences I received through Stonefruit.
I can’t wait to create the same for Boca Santa.
