As an avid gamer I'm always looking for a product to suit my rather fussy needs, and if I can't find it I make it and then share it with you. I've been looking around for a sturdy bocage set for some time. Usually they're quite delicate and shed flock each and every time you use them. As a solution I've made these solid resin ones, they can be painted as they come out of the box or better still be undercoated and flocked with the custom mixes supplied.
This set has been designed for both 20mm and 28mm scales, it's huge for 20mm and sizeable for the latter. The only not perfectly suitable cross scale piece is the gate piece, if you're pledging for 20mm you can swap this out for a similar sized medium piece.
Here's a 28mm Hetzer next to a long piece, with some figures hiding.
Here's a 20mm T-34 next to a short piece.
Even a 20mm Elefant sits lower than a long piece.
There's sixteen pieces to each set, with no repeated pieces, consisting of three long, three medium (including a gate piece), four small, a pair of 45 degree turns, a pair of ninety degree turns, a ninety degree junction and a Y-junction. In total approximately 2.44 metres (8 foot) long.
The long pieces are 40mm wide, up to 62mm tall and 236mm (1.57" x 2.44" x 9.29") long.
The medium pieces are 40mm wide, up to 62mm tall and 180mm (1.57" x 2.44" x 7.08") long.
The small pieces are 40mm wide, up to 62mm tall and 116mm (1.57" x 2.44" x 4.56") long.
45 Degree Turn
The 45 Degree Turn pieces are 40mm wide, up to 62mm tall and 116mm (1.57" x 2.44" x 4.56") long.
90 Degree Turn
The 90 Degree Turn pieces are 40mm wide, up to 62mm tall and 70mm (1.57" x 2.44" x 2.75") long.
90 degree Junction and Y- Junction
The 90 degree Junction pieces are 40mm wide, up to 62mm tall and 128mm (1.57" x 2.44" x 5.03") long, the Y- Junction pieces are 40mm wide, up to 62mm tall and 122mm (1.57" x 2.44" x 4.8") long.
I've not painted either of these but it's easy to imagine what they'd look like.
I've negotiated with Debris of War ( https://www.facebook.com/debrisofwar/ ) for top quality blends of flock which best represent the summer tones of bocage. There's three tones of course flock, a static grass and a set of flowers to add the finishing touches to your bocage.
This is what you'll get: 45 grams of each coarse foam flock, 15 grams of static grass and 66 x 4mm flower tufts. The tonal range is bigger than it appears in this brightened photo, the flocked examples show this better.
For an additional flock pack add £20 to your pledge.
Postage and Packing
I've tried to make postage as agreeable as possible, especially for backers who aren't in the UK, especially our antipodean chums who suffer unfairly to enjoy the hobby, The P&P prices for full set pledges are:
Australia/ New Zealand / United States £20
Larger pledges are more, smaller typically less.
Risks and challenges
The masters are all made, the moulds which have been made are all fine so it's really just a matter of casting as required which my previous Kickstarters show I'm totally capable of doing within the deadline. The only delay to delivery is the Christmas period, so some post may be delayed as is usual at that time of year. That's beyond my control but worth mentioning, and while I've chosen a January delivery date - of course if you've been good gamers you might get it in time for Christmas.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
