STUCK ON A - THE STORY
Will creating her own web series help industry novice Elliot fulfill her dream of becoming a world-famous writer? She strives to make the memory of her novelist father proud, but will she survive going through some unconventional means in order to cast her favorite childhood celebrity? With the help of her friend Liam, an aspiring actor, along with the mis-understood and socially-averse Maurice, Elliot will embark on a journey in which she will do just about ANYTHING to buy herself just one minute of face-time with her childhood idol, hoping against odds he'll take the role of HER lifetime!
We are thrilled to be working with newcomers and show writers Devin Compton and Patrick Daly. They will be joined by recurring cast members Ashlie Atkinson (Wolf of Wall Street, Compliance, Nurse Jackie), Maggie Hood (The Americans, The Following) and Patrick Clark. Also guest stars slated to appear include Rachel Feinstein (Comedy Central Presents, Last Comic Standing, Inside Amy Schumer) and Mike Houston (Leftovers, Deliver Us From Evil, Gotham, Inside Amy Schumer).
BEHIND THE SCENES
We are excited to have cinematographer Colin Kelly and his production team on board for the filming and audio. We'll be shooting with a Red Scarlet, and a great team behind the cameras - which will free up our actors to have the freedom to really play around - and just make you laugh that much harder!
Along with the creators and myself, the director, we are being generously helped in pre-production by indy film vets Russell Brandi and Melinda Prisco. They are helping to secure all of that behind the scenes production like locations, transportation, hiring crew, budgeting and lending their experience to us. They also bring a team of eager PA's and other crew that want to be involved with the filming of our project.
THE CREATORS - OUR STORY:
They say a picture is worth a thousand words and I, David, have spent the last 20 years of my career taking that “one” portrait of someone that I hope is worth a thousand words. This project turns the tables and becomes not just about the picture, but also the “thousand words,” or in this case, about 10,800. With our project, we are whole heartedly embracing the concepts of New Media and self-distribution. The internet affords the world the ability to show just about anything, to anyone, at anytime. The catch - you still need something to distribute and that’s where this campaign comes in. While it’s great that we can self-distribute projects in today's world, those projects often don’t come with built-in advertising, which also means they come without built-in funding.
I, as the director, and the creators, Devin and Patrick, are all involved with no intent to collect payment for our project, but we can’t expect the same from every single person that will be needed to make sure that this project not only happens, but is the best it can possibly be. After all, our crew and actors have everyday expenses. We have donated some seed money that allows us to move our project from the dream stage, to the “maybe this will actually happen” stage. It will cover all of our location fees, some food during shoot days, and some minimal gear. We are turning to Kickstarter because we want this to be produced to the best of our ability. That includes being able to rent the right audio, film, and lighting equipment, as well as paying the crew to use it. We are registering this project under a SAG-AFTRA New Media agreement so that we can open ourselves up to the great talent they have to offer. This allows us to get talent at deferred payment, but we also want our actors to be able to make a little money as well. We have done everything we can to make this shoot as efficient as possible, maximizing our time at each location to help minimize our costs. We feel the entire season can be shot in 7-9 days. The money that we raise will go towards: feeding and taking care of our incredible cast and crew, ensuring us top notch equipment for production and post production, locking in permits for various shoot locations, aiding in the cost for props, costumes, and set design, and payment to the necessary parties. Additionally, we want to make sure that we see this all the way through the editing stage so that we can begin bringing you episodes in the fall. We are currently developing Season 2, and any excess funds raised from this campaign will be put toward jump-starting pre-production for Season 2. Risks and challenges
We have all donated a lot of time prior to posting this project to locate the right actors, find the locations we need, and bring on the right crew, including an amazing DP. Everyone involved in this project are working professionals in the New York City area, with the crew having years of experience in the advertising / commercial photography and film industries, and actors that have great track records as well. This minimizes the risk as we all do this for a living. The difference is that this is our own personal project, and therefore no one is paying us to do it. Which leads to the main challenge; with so many working professionals on board, our biggest difficulty will be working the shoot around everyone’s schedule. As of now, that has not proven to be an issue. We have done so much preproduction (at least 90% of the crew and cast are in place, as well as the locations), that all that will be left by the end of the Kickstarter will be to show up and shoot those 7-9 days!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
