On Sunday, November 10, at 6:00 pm
Redeemer Covenant Church, 7801 Brooklyn Blvd, Brooklyn Park, MN
“Twinkle Twinkle” is a favorite for some, but for the children in Nigeria, or China, or Sweden, what do their mammas sing to them at bedtime? Across the world there are children playing and singing songs that they can’t imagine life without. What are they?
Above the World So High attendees will take a virtual 60-minute flight around the world to get some sneak peeks of folks from many other cultures and languages, hearing the lullabies that are meaningful to them.
The concert will involve live performances from natives and locals and video interviews with mothers and fathers, and reinterpretations of classics, combining to give the audience a magical evening that entertains family members of all ages and brings you closer to brothers and sisters around the world!

WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
We need your support to help ensure a quality production. This multicultural family concert is something that we see value in recreating at future times in various venues. The success of this initial production will help determine whether or not we bring Above the World So High to your town in the future!
Here is a breakdown of the budget:
SITE: $100 - Fortunately, we have an arrangement with the facility such that the only fees will involve having someone run the sound system.
SET/DECORATIONS: $500 - We are going for suggestions of an airplane flight! Creative, time, and materials required!
PUBLICITY: $700 - Graphics designer, printing posters and postcards, and postage for mailing the postcards
REFRESHMENTS FOR THE CAST AND CREW: $200 - on the day of the concert, we want to be sure everyone is energized and hydrated!
PROGRAM PRINTING: $300
FEES FOR WRITERS AND PERFORMERS: *While many of our cast and crew have agreed to work on this project without promise of personal monetary compensation - because they so love the concept! - we want to show that we value them. All funds raised above our goal will be distributed among the directors, writers, and performers. Please give generously if you are able!
Risks and challenges
CHALLENGE: VIDEO CREATION AND EDITING
A major component of this production is the incorporation of video interviews. Members of our community, as well as communities in other countries, will be on film discussing the meaningful music of their childhood - and singing some for us! While video making is not our personal strength, we have connected with three different individuals and companies who are partnering with us to make it happen.
Of course in order to get everything produced in time, the interviewees must be available, and technology must cooperate. With consistent communication amongst all parties and encouragement to keep moving forward, we believe we can get this all put together in plenty of time.
CHALLENGE: SET DESIGN
Considering the very small window of time available to us in the facility on concert day, the decoration components will require creativity and careful planning. We are working with some very skilled individuals to implement the plans.
CHALLENGE: PROGRAM DESIGN
We enjoy incorporating fun paper programs that play into the theme of the concert (like a dance card for our nostalgic jazz concert), so the program for this event will be travel related. Designing and printing always seem to present artistic and technical surprises, but we have hired a capable graphic designer to produce this fun component for the program.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
