In the Halo video game community I have been using Forge (Halo's built-in level editor) to build creative content that pushed the boundaries of what was possible with Forge's limited toolkit. I wanted to bring something new and exciting to the Halo community, from a logic-defying Rube Goldberg machine, devious obstacle courses (I made a lot), Halo Pinball, and my most complex mechanism: a 100% functional, honor-rule free recreation of Rock-Paper-Scissors.
Now I want to bring something new and exciting to the Machinima community. Machinima, to me, seems to be stuck in a rut: almost everything is a 100% scripted dramatic or comedic production. Now, there are some truly excellent Machinima films out there--but I think it's time for something fresh; a break from the actioncomedy scripts and headbob voiceovers.
I have a solid concept for what I believe will be the first ever Machinima Reality Show.
The show will follow the Reality Show formula: auditions, selections, challenges, judgings, eliminations. It will be focused on Halo: Reach. I don't want to say much more, for risk of someone stealing my concept in entirety before I have the chance to actually produce it. But if you've seen my work, I hope you know that I put a lot of effort into everything I make--and this will certainly not be an exception. If I've intrigued you, please consider supporting this project.
To make this project happen, I need funding for hardware to capture video from my Xbox 360, software to edit said video, and money to provide prizes to the show's participants. If funding is successful, I expect to be able to launch the project in January where it would run for several weeks. I have other concepts already planned beyond this--I am not aiming to be a one-trick pony. If for some reason funding exceeds the goal, the excess will make future projects possible.
I've set my sights on Machinima, I need you guys to help me pull the trigger. This is a community-focused project that depends on community support. Thank you all!
