Project Update 2/23:

Meet Rhino! The newest member of the Quirkie Kids family! Rhino is exclusively available to our Kickstarter backers.
He will be printed in black on the front of American Apparel Fine Jersey (100%) cotton t-shirts in the color Fuchsia. Backers are now able to chose from Godzilla, Skull, Food Chain, Slime, AND Rhino. Backers will be able to select their choice(s) of size (s) and design(s) after the funding period is over and only if the funding goal is met.
Thank you for your support!
I am the proud mother of two boys: Tyler (age 6) and Tristan (age 3). Being a mom has made me realize just how innocent children are. My boys have no idea that according to our society, certain things should be off limit to them including the color pink. The idea that a color is either masculine or feminine is absurd to me.
Tyler loves garbage trucks and wants to be a garbage man when he grows up. To those who know him, it’s no surprise that green is his favorite color. Tristan loves superheroes and the Hulk is his absolute favorite. Tristan loves to say “Hulk smash” while showing of his little boy muscles. Tristan, too, likes the color green. Some boys like green. Some boys like pink. And I say: why not?
Clothes shopping for a boy who likes pink is a challenge. Girl clothes are just about your only option, but just because a boy likes pink doesn’t mean that he likes frilly clothes with bows, ribbons, and ruffles. The same is true for girls. Girls who like pink don’t necessarily like kittens, rainbows, and butterflies. There are plenty of girls who like robots, dinosaurs, and aliens. They, too, are out of luck as pink clothes with such designs are hard, if not impossible, to find.
And so the idea for QUIRKIE KIDS - pink tees for girls AND boys - was born. The line of tees will have playful designs of things not normally associated with the color pink. I hope that you will join me in support of all the boys out there who like the color pink and all the girls who would like more choices. Let’s show the little ones in our lives that it’s okay to think for themselves!
The tees will be printed on American Apparel Fine Jersey T-shirts in the color Fuchsia. Since I want you to love the tees as much as I do, a lot of consideration went into these decisions. As any pink aficionado will tell you, there’s pink and then there’s pink. I chose a color that I think your little one will love. It’s a really beautiful shade of pink that reminds me of a blooming cherry blossom tree in the spring time.
I also chose a quality t-shirt that is made in the USA and holds up well even after wearing and washing it many times. I purchased a bunch of sample tees for my boys to try out including the American Apparel T-shirt I ended up choosing. They wore them and I washed them. Then they wore them some more and I washed them so more. Many park outings and countless spin cycles later and the shirts still look great. Did I mention that my boys like mud? Oh, and spit! They love spit. I am ashamed to say that my boys have even tried to spit on ants. Yikes. Too much information, I know!
After I chose a shirt, I had samples printed by Rain City West in Seattle, WA. I decided to go for a short-sleeved tee that works well in the summer or any time of year if your kid is a little spitfire like my boys who get hot from running around. The tees also work well for layering either with a long-sleeved shirt underneath or a hoodie on top. The result is a tee that I think you and your little one will love: comfy, fashionable, durable, and PINK!
The tees were lovingly designed by the talented Liam Robinson, a professional Animator/Illustrator (http://liamr80.tumblr.com) and father to Brendan (age 3) from Seattle, WA.
And here they are: Godzilla, Skull, Food Chain, and Slime.
Please note that Food Chain has a design on the front and the back of the tee.

The rewards are designed to get the tees in the hands of kids. There are various reward levels, but they are mostly just quantities of tees. You can get one or you can get a whole bunch. Just pick the reward level that corresponds with the total number of tees you want. You can select your preferred design and size at any reward level. The tees are currently available in four designs: Godzilla, Skull, Food Chain, and Slime, and five sizes: size 2, size 4, size 6, size 8, and size 10. As an extra incentive, you get a sticker with each shirt you order. The more shirts you order, the more stickers you get. The delivery estimate for all rewards is May. This means that your little ones will get their tees in time for summer!
A big thank you to my hubby Yvo Zoer for his support. Special thanks also to Liam Robinson for making my vision come alive, and to Emi Halverson, (mom to Blake - age 2) of Silly Monkey Photography for capturing the playful spirit of the tees. A big high five to some of my favorite little ones for being so sweet during the photo shoot.
And finally a huge special thanks in advance to YOU for your support!!!
Risks and challenges
Risks and Challenges
To minimize the risk and to be sure that I can deliver what I promise, I have tried to anticipate any bumps in the road. However, there are always risks in manufacturing, like busy production lines or out of stock t-shirts that may cause delays. In addition, the demand for the tees is not yet predictable. If I receive more orders than anticipated, it may delay shipment of the rewards. Please note that all shipping dates are just estimates. I will do my best to get the tees to you a.s.a.p and will keep my backers informed every step of the way!
