BUENO KEY - STRAP LINE

A film about the art that changed a drug dealer's life and how it saved his relationship, with the love of his life.

SYNOPSIS

BUENO KEY is a British drama about three characters trapped in a world of addiction; an ugly world of drug dealing and drug taking, and risking it all on the horses. BUENO KEY is a powerful story about how we must sacrifice all that we know to become all that we can be. This sacrifice begins with a phone call to a drama coach. Proving that art can change lives.

WHY ARE WE MAKING THIS FILM?

"middle class dyslexics go to art school working class dyslexics go to prison"

After a long discussion about the above statement DYSPLA and writer Dean Stalham decided to create a series of projects that comment on education and social standing. Bueno Key is the first in that series.

"I want to make this film to show that people in a seemingly hopeless situation can change; and that change is often found in the most diverse places, which gives hope to all, especially those that believe all hope is gone." Writer Dean Stalham

DYSPLA and the writer believe passionately that people need positive options and our protagonist seeks these options in the form of Artistic enlightenment.

Our main protagonist changes his life because of his new relationship with art. We want to make BUENO KEY because the film explores the idea that people make choices based on social positioning. People therefore need to have positive options in their life, if they are to make positive choices.

Everyone, regardless of their social background, deserves the right to change; and our film is about how our protagonist finds the courage to change after his exposure to the arts. BUENO KEY aims to tackle big social questions and with your help the conversation will engage many.

WRITER

Dean has had his work produced by Channel 4 and The Royal Court Theatre. Dean also runs Made Corrections, an Arts organisation focusing on Artistic Projects involving Judicial System.

“The work that Dean Stalham does is invaluable – He believes passionately in art saving lives, always making good on this promise’s. His projects in the visual arts, performance and education give people who have lost their way back their dignity, enabling them to move forward. ’
Will Self, Writer and Broadcaster

PRODUCER

Produced by DYSPLA - the first arts organisation to develop, produce and promote the work of dyslexic and neuro-diverse storymakers. DYSPLA is very excited to be producing its first short film and hopes it will be the first of many.                 www.dyspla.com

DIRECTORS

Bielecki & Bielecka are a directing duo dedicated to building a portfolio of exciting and quirky work. They believe that their dyslexia makes them better story-makers and their work really does stand out. http://www.bieleckiandbielecka.com/

DYSLEXIC CREATIVE TEAM

Our creative team is dyslexic. The writer is dyslexic. The directors are dyslexic; and the production company backing this film only produces the work of dyslexics. It is safe to say that this film is a good example of neuro-diversity working at its best.

HOW YOUR MONEY WILL BE USED:

With your kind and generous donations, we can make this film and inspire so many people to make positive changes in their lives.

Our sucessful campaign will provide the necessary funds to pay our core creative team: the actors, make up artist, the 1AD,the  audio/boom operator and wardrobe designer etc. To ensure that BUENO KEY is made, the following people will not be paid from this kickstarter budget: the writer, directors, producers, DOP, editor, and casting.

Risks and challenges

For those that know us, you will know that we are tenacious, rebellious people that work hard to get the job done. For those who are reading this profile with no knowledge of the creative team - I say, feel free to google us: we have a reputation of making things happen.

It is an illusion that one needs a lot of money to make many things. But you do need some money to make things better.
