Stunning Tonto Forever.
Ten years ago, a group of musicians in Tucson, Arizona started a record label, Stunning Tonto Records. Today, all of the original bands are gone, but from that core group of people, nearly all of them are still playing music. The base of this project is to get funding for a new compilation of music, one which will transport the bands of 2012 back to 2002 where they will record songs from their past. Some of the bands that are going to be covered: Good Talk Russ, scratchingthesurface, Lloyd Dobbler, the Retainers, Red Switch and Chango Malo. Some of bands involved are Anakim, Fort Worth, HAIRSPRAYFIREANDGIRLS, Gentlemen of Monster Island, Church Key and Garboski.
While planning this project we came across hours of footage from the original STR days. In addition to the compilation, we are going to make a documentary covering the early years of Stunning Tonto, the making of this comp and the release show.
Whatever money the Kickstarter generates is going to funnel in to these categories:
Production of the new compilation (studio time, pressing, etc...)
Payment for all the new merch we will need to fund the Kickstarter rewards.
The documentary! This is going to take the hundreds of hours of footage collected from ALL the original bands, coupling that with interviews from the band members on all things Stunning Tonto. The interviews will take place during the recording of the new compilation and additional footage will be used from the Stunning Tonto Forever release show. Release show you say? Funny you ask...
The release show. Whatever monies we have left-over from the recording, the merch and the documentary production, we are going to put in to the actual night when we release Stunning Tonto Forever. We want the show to be a fun experience.
This is a not-for-profit endeavor so 100% of the money made is going in to the project meaning whatever you put in you get to experience again, just in the form of nicer packaging, mood lighting at the show and maybe one of those nacho waterfall things. You get the jist. If you don't, be sure to visit Jericho at midnight on a Saturday at Mr Heads and ask him about it. He will be glad to see you.
Does the hundred dollars on the $150 level go towards any tattoo or does it simply pay for a hundred dollar piece?
It's a hundred dollar voucher for work done by David Williams.
