It's creative nonfiction, intended for adults, but appropriate for young adults. This is not an illustrated children's book. It will be approximately 250 pages.
#WhysThatDogInHere does go in-depth, but I've tried to do it in a gentle, easy to read, sometimes tongue and cheek, storytelling fashion. As creative nonfiction, it reads like a series of scenes or short stories, that have played out over the last seven years, grouped by topic.
So, for example, the chapter "Why's That Dog on Public Transportation?" has stories about one of Gizmo's first plane trips and how he alerted me at the gate to an oncoming problem before we even got on the plane, the crazy woman on the bus who stomped on his tail and the driver kicked her off, the reaction of an uber driver, how Gizmo helps me when we're out and about, etc.
When listed online, it will be identified in three categories: Pets & Animal Care--dogs, Biography & Memoirs--memoirs, and Diseases and Physical Ailments--strokes.
