Thanks so much for your message. I understand your concerns about purchasing AL13 v2. We did say that AL13 would cause some signal loss but some people did experience more signal loss than others.
Our AL13 v2 promises no signal loss and it's even tougher than the original. If you'd like to get your hands on one you should head over to the Kickstarter page and secure yours as soon as possible if you haven't already.

I want you guys to know that I paid $70.00 for a bumper I never received anything. Now on the market their are much better bumpers thinner and better. @Steve On their Facebook page they answered upon a restocking the AL13 in Silver question: "Hey [...] AL13 Silver will be made available in the near future, but we can't release an exact date, we're really sorry for any inconveniences. Great news tho! The AL13 Version 2 is being worked on in a variety of colors [...] For up-to-date information on us and our products, feel free to join our mailing list [...]"
So it seems they're working on an updated version 2 which hopefully will be rid of the bugs a lot of pledgers complained here about. But as they haven't send me the refund they promised me more than 4 weeks ago I assume they prefer to ignore our comments and complains.
Several months have passed and through all of this I see nothing in regards to the complaints that have been logged about signal strength. If you guys really stand behind your product then I think you should at least comment on the complaints instead of ignoring all the people that got you where you are at this time with our hard earned money. I myself purchased a second one right after I got the first one and before I had ample time to test it out so now it sits in its box unopened and unused. So all we ask is that you step up as BUSINESS men and respond to the complaints.
Great looking product but no longer use it. Degrades signal by 1-2 bars. Drops calls.
OK, It's September, so I've had it for a while. Here's my thoughts.
I agree with what Aleksey said.
It looks great, it has a great form-factor, and it's very light. I got the green color, and I love how it looks with the black iPhone5.
- It's a tight fit, so dust collects. I took it to the beach, and ever since, I've had sand in there that grinds inside the case and it can't be removed.
- It looses lots of signal. I can loose my data and LTE entirely sometimes. And most the time it's just a generally bad signal across my house, even to wifi.
- Aluminum is flexible. To the point that I dropped it once and I can no longer slide the backing back into place. So, now I can't use the case at all.
It was nice while it lasted, but now I'm using my phone without the case. I'm enjoying the original slim form-factor, but I have a kid now, and would like a little extra protection, but without the lose of signal. Alas, there is no true solution.
After using case for a while, here's my review
As I saw the box it makes me feel like I recieved a premium product, but later it only leaves the feeling that you should have spent more time developing the case( not the box which is in fact absolutely useless) as the phone is a bit small inside of it. After sometime I have found a lifehack - if you make backside frame(sliding part) a bit like this " ) " it will fix the phone inside for sometime... Moreover, once in 2 weeks I take off the case and clean my phone as it gets extremely dirty with dust because it does not fit the phone properly
Signal lose for me is 15 percent 3g and up to 40 with the wifi, sometimes I have to take off the case as the phone is unable to find the wifi spot
And the last is price
It should be no more than 20-30 bucks, and thinkbym do not fool yourself, this case is far from premium, and aluminium does not make it premium until it is perfectly done, but it is not
2. How it looks (I have blue on white iphone)
1. Does not fit properly
2. Collects dust inside
3. Falls apart when you drop the phone lightly(after a heavy drop I think the backframe will broke)
4. It is as premium, as ferrari without engine and wheels
5. White parts on the sides ( al13, m) gets dirty after single day use and spoil the look of the case
6. Acts like a protective phone case but does not protect iphone in fact
My first case for 10 bucks protects the phone 10 times better

Salut! Just got it in Russia. I like the design, it looks great, but there are alot " - ".
1) My signal loss is more in the 20% percent range and not in the 5-10% that was reported by you. The battery drains very fast because my iPhone 5 is always looking for 3G signal continuously all day.
2) The data transfer via Edge or 3G is slowed down to around 30%.It's became always switching between Edge or 3G. Using my previous bupmer - I have no such problems.
3) The WIFI signal drops also by 1 bars!
4) The sharp internal edges!!!!

Decided to check in the portuguese postal services/customs about my order and surprisingly, no order from US, having me as destinataire, as arrived in Portugal till today June,23.
I was suggested to reach the seller in order to contact USPS and put a claim. I will ask AI13 to ship again my order but to a MYUS adress service which I have contracted recently.

Also my order to Portugal is still missing. I believe it has to do with customs as I have a term of comparison: another kickstarter's product, shipped from US on April 29 is still missing. It's too much coincidence. The tracking number supplied just goes till the package leaves US (the type used by the seller). After that, no tracking from our local postal company is possible. You only know it's here when they knock on your door possible claiming an amount as duty charges.
I never had a single order from US that hadn't received it. Usually they have arrived in 30 days (even once from UK). This time, these two orders are taking longer...
I too had left a glowing comment about the beauty of this case and even purchsed a second one right after receiving my initial purchase but now I too am having reservations about this case. My signal loss is more in the 30-40 percent range and not in the 5-10% that was reported by design by m. The sharp internal edges are semi annoying as well and felt only when the rear film has not been applied. This is really disappointing after dropping over $100 on these cases that I know I will only use when I am in the strongest of cell markets. I repsect that the designers are willing to respond to comments but what I don't see or respect is the lack of response to negative comments about the signal loss that so many people are having. It is not an admission of failure to acknowledge those of us that are having problems, it is in fact respectful to respond in some form at the least and in a public forum where others may read the comments as well. I have read all the comments looking for something from the creator before posting my comment but the lack of responses has left me to add my own comments. I am sorry if you see them as negative but in truth I am very positive about the asthetics of the case it is just the performance that has me seeing it as a negative.
Dropped mine once and know it has several nicks and scratches, that I could live with but the poor reception is just not workable. Shame, it is the prettiest case I have ever seen. Friends have commented on how it looked, but I can't recommend it to them.
I dropped my phone and case off a six foot ladder yesterday onto a concrete floor. I didn't notice a single scratch. The back slider did pop out a little but was easily re-inserted. I love this new case.
Cover doesnt fit my iPhone as well! It does let my iPhone moves into it!!
And then...keeping wifi connected is very hard! It loose signal every minute!

Apparently this doesn't stretch to answering emails or tweets.
It is all very well aspiring to produce the same quality of design and product experience as Apple but if you can't deliver a product that works or the customer service to back it up it counts for nothing.
This is a fundamentally flawed product that DOES NOT function as advertised and despite their comment below they are NOT responding to customers.
The fact that its not a faceless company being so blatantly disrespectful to its customers but a pair of people who have directly asked for investment from backers who put faith in them to deliver makes this whole situation even harder to not get annoyed about.
Acknowledging the fact there are issues (for a fair few people) would be a great place to start.

Mine got here (Germany) last week (May 27th).
I also have a loss in the phone signal around one bar, but my main problem is that all data connections are severly affected. The data transfer via UMTS, Edge or 3G is slowed down to around 30% normal. The WIFI signal drops also by two bars!

Portugal: not yet received. Another Kickstarter's project shipped also on April, 29 pending delivery too. Now on the fifth week. Customs? Probably. Let´s wait a few more days.
This case is truly bad. When I first got it I thought it was amazing but that stopped when I first dropped. The whole case broke and it is not fitting very well. If you are looking for a durable case, dot get this one.
Oh, and the packaging is unreal!
Finally got to pick up my AL13 at the post office this morning. Customs and additional costs racked up to €23,50 (~$30) :(.
But it looks great, fits well, no sharp edged. It has already gotten some positive reactions from coworkers! I have not been able to check the signal strenght yet, we'll see how that works out.
Had to pay €8 (= $12) to get it released from customs. I put it immesiately on and found that the signal drops just one bar - as you promised - but I have a huge drop in 3G Internet speed with the case on compared to no case at all. Renders it nearly to useless as I'm travelling a lot. Also my battery drains very fast because my iPhone 4S is looking for 3G signal continuously all day. So please start to communicate with your customers how you want to get rid of the bugs in your design and don't ignore their emails!

THE ABANDONMENT DISPLAYED BY THESE PEOPLE IS DISGRACEFUL ... Their last update talks about how happy everyone is ... Then they vanished completely.
I think what is happening in these comments is the typical complainers are louder phenomenon. And it makes sense, because those who are satisfied and happy with the product are less likely going to post about it than those who are having issues. And those problems should be addressed for sure, and designed by m team should do whatever they can to provide better customer service, and fix the problems with the actual case if they update it later.
With that being said, I LOVE my case and I am having literally no signal problems. I am on the Orange network in Israel and perhaps they provide stronger signals than other networks that people are on who are reporting those problems. Since there are so many cellular networks out there, that may explain the variance of issues with this matter. Nonetheless, my shipping took much longer than everyone else, and while waiting for the case to arrive I read through all of these comments dreading that I'd have signal problems. And to say the least I was pleasantly surprised that this was not an issue at all and I'd venture to say it is just not an issue across board like some of these comments may imply.
I also have the black version, and while yes there is the smallest hint of a purple shade, it largely depends on the lighting (I find that soft yellow light brings it out the most) and it is really not that bad anyways. Overall, the black mostly fits the black hue of the iPhone, and it looks crazy good. My case fits the iPhone very well too, adds no noticeable weight, and the iPhone does not jiggle around. I also have no grip issues, or sharp edge issues. It is everything I wanted in a case for my iPhone and I can't help but pull out my iPhone to glance at the case every so often because of how great it looks.
What I am guessing is that not all cases were built the same, and some people did indeed get some flukes. This is likely thanks to the manufacturing process, and this should be rectified. Like some said, designed by m should consider allocating the resources they put into the packaging into perfecting the actual case. The packaging is indeed awesome, but it is not nearly as necessary as ensuring the actual case is perfect for everyone.
However, for those who don't have this case yet either because they have not purchased it yet, or waiting for it to ship, and are concerned reading all of these comments, I'd say have no fear! The chances are that you will love it like I do, and that it will find a permanent place on your iPhone for years to come.
Received mine today. It fits perfectly, the gunmetal is bang on, no razor sharp edges, the screen protector is easily the best I've ever used and it all came in super nice packaging as a Bertie Bonus. Top job!
Been using mine or several weeks now, just got back from a trip to Florida, drove there and back starting in Texas. No real signal problems to speak of. Sorry to hear others are having issues, but I am quite pleased.
