About this project
Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there was a small but peaceful kingdom. The kingdom was famous for its skilled merchants, who were able to sell any kind of goods at any price.
But one day the peace of the kingdom was threatened by the arrival of a Troll! He was not a bad Troll, after all: he did not live under bridges, he was neither too fearsome nor too hideous, he usually did not even threaten to devour people around him!
He was more of the dumb kind, always breaking things while moving in the markets and making a mess of everything he touched. The merchants were very worried and soon the markets became empty as no one wanted to trade near that bungling Troll. But one day a merchant, a smart one, made the Troll an offer...Welcome to Trade & Troll!
Trade & Troll is a European-style game for 2-6 players, developed by Emanuele Buffagni & Giulio Torlai and published by Good & Evil Games.
The game is set in a fantasy kingdom, where each player represents a merchant whose goal is to arrange an efficient production line from the collection of basic resources to their manufacturing and consequent trading in market stands.
During the game, players’ main goal is to enlarge their trading company, gathering different Resources to sell in their Stalls and creating Markets combining different Stalls. But Markets and Stalls vendors are very specialized and can only sell certain particular types of goods: to sell your products you need to create an effective trade route between buildings of the same color.
To connect one building to another, players must cobble new roads, but beware! Your opponents may use your roads as well for their trades!
Unfortunately, things become more complicated as a Troll arrives in the village and your rivals start offering him money to block your routes! Get control of him and you will be able to block your opponents’ trades!
The game is language independent, as written text is only present in the Rulebook!
Trade & Troll contains numerous components to became the richest merchants in the kingdom!
You will receive:
In Trade & Troll, you represent a merchant whose goal is to create effective trade routes between basic Resources and your Stalls, and then on to your Markets.
The game is played in Rounds during which each player can execute two of the following actions:
- Buying and placing a building on the board
- Buying and placing a road on the board
- Activating a building to earn coins
Let’s see what the goal of these actions is!
Trade & Troll contains three different types of building tiles: Resources, Stalls and Markets.
Each tile is characterized by 2 elements: color, indicated on the border of the tile, and entrance, in the lower part of the tile.
During the game, players will activate these buildings to collect coins. Higher level buildings, such as Stalls and Markets, must be connected to lower level buildings of the same colors to be activated. So, a Stall must be connected to the Resource buildings of the same color, and Markets must be connected to the corresponding color Stalls.
To connect and consequently activate their tiles, players must build a continuous road between Entrances of their buildings. When buildings are connected, the owner can use them to gain coins! Closed Roads, present on the board from the beginning of the game, obstruct the passage!
If a player does not possess the required buildings he can Rent other players' Resources and Stalls. However, if you Rent another players' building, this player will gain coins as if he had activated the building himself!
Unfortunately, things won’t be that simple, remember a Troll is wandering the village! At the beginning of each round the Troll Auction phase takes place. Each player places a secret bid to win the services of the Troll: the player who has bid the most wins the Troll and will use it for the current round to block a road intersection or a building.
Invested coins are put inside the Troll Bag. At the end of the game the player who invested the most coins in the Troll earns some additional Victory Points.
Be cunning and you’ll ruin the other merchants’ plans!
Finally, who wins the game? The player with the most Victory Points is the winner. Three different elements allow players to earn Victory Points:
- Connected buildings
- Coins accumulated
- Coins invested in the Troll during the game
Beware, most of the Victory Points derive from owning buildings, but they must be connected! If those buildings aren’t connected to the lower level required buildings, you’re going to be losing points instead of gaining them.

The Print & Play file contains almost everything you need to play a 2-4 player game. The only additional components you need are some meeples/tokens for each player! We have tried our best to not dry up your printer but colours are an important part of the game, so some components need to be printed in colour.
What is a Stretch Goal?
A stretch goal is a funding target beyond the original Kickstarter goal. They are a way for creators to raise more money, offering to backers a better product with better components and improved quality!
Why Stretch Goals? Because Trade & Troll is a great game and it's exactly the game we wanted, but, with your help, we can make it even better.
We do not wish to offer exclusive components or adds-on that would modify the delicate balances of our game: no "new untested rules/components" and no "not-so-useful-exclusives". Our Stretch Goals are simply meant to improve the quality of the game components!
This is a game in which colors and illustrations play a fundamental role. To be sure we are bringing you the best possible experience we have hired an artist from Nemo Academy of Digital Arts in Florence: Monica Bauleo.
Monica is a talented Italian freelance illustrator and she likes to experiment with different tecniques and concepts. It was the first time she worked on a board game but she did a wonderful job!

Good & Evil Games is an Italian independent developer of tabletop board games. This is Good & Evil Games first Kickstarter project and to avoid complications, errors and problems we have choosen the best possible partners to work with. All of them have already worked with other more famous companies and have already delivered a lot of games to your doorstep!
The game will be produced by BangWee Productions to assure the best possibile quality.

Our artist has proven very reliable and confirmed she can complete the final required illustrations in time.
The estimated delivery date for Trade & Troll is January 2018, but please keep in mind that this is an informed guess, as there may always be unexpected accidents in such projects, usually concerning the production line and the subsequent shipping. Also note that due to logistical restrictions in different regions, some backers may receive their pledge rewards before others.
