"It's a smart product that works amazingly well, and I expect no less from them." Phil Tippett - Legendary visual effects and stop motion master for Starship Troopers, Jurassic Park, Star Wars and Mad God on Kickstarter.
Some of our recent press!
AnatomyTools.com CEO & artist, Andrew Cawrse is pictured trying out the prototype: “Awesome new accessory, it's been great to use working from the model or just drawing on the couch”
Check them out! And here is...
We have just launched an update with our first special and limited edition artist series, our initial goal with Tabzu was always to promote artist by displaying their art on our covers. Tabzu is meant to be more then a tablet holder, it is a tool to express yourself and be as creative on the outside as you are on the inside.
The world we come from: We are special FX guys and graphic designers. That's why we always look for simple solutions to complex problems. Over the years we have engineered lots of cool stuff. Some you may have seen in The Lord of the Rings, Coraline, The Life Aquatic, RoboCop, Starship Troopers, Terminator, Indiana Jones, and even Mythbusters. Armed with this knowledge, we decided it was time to design something for ourselves, an iPad Case with the functions we were looking for.
Our motivation: We did not want to make just another case, we wanted to add new features and roll all our improvements into the most convenient tablet case possible. That meant building the Tabzu.
Like us on our facebook page:
After six months and dozens of prototypes, we came up with a patent pending leg grabbing system, a new presentation mode as well as a customizable cover that uses our own water-resistant recyclable composite, making the Tabzu eco-friendly. We think it's as cool as anything we've ever made for a movie
Not just another tablet case: Tabzu is different for many reasons. It offers a Patent pending leg-grabbing system, this is one we're very proud of. No other carrying case allows you to secure a tablet computer to your leg and not hinder the case's ability to be placed on a flat surface. Other devices are bulky and not INTEGRATED into the design of the case. Now with Tabzu you can be hands free wherever you go.
The reason Tabzu holds to your legs without slipping is achieved thru a series of foam rubber pads that offer friction.
Our grabbing system folds perfectly FLAT. This allows the Tabzu to also be placed on a horizontal surface.
You can even secure the Tabzu on the couch, and the grabber is gentle enough to not bother your leg, but strong enough to secure it.
Our 3 Axes of Rotation: Tabzu offers multiple angles for both portrait and landscape mode, but it also has a unique Presentation mode. Once the Tabzu is secured to your leg, it can swivel 360 degrees, a helpful feature during meetings or presentations. We also discovered that it is very convenient for Skype and allows a direct line of sight to the screen.
Multi-Tablet Function: Why cater only to the iPad? We made the Tabzu so that it can fit a variety of tablets by creating a series of slots and replaceable tabs. For now, we are catering to the iPad, the Nook, the Nexus 7 and iPhone on a single tablet but are planning adaptions for new ones, watch for our updates. In this prototype the red tabs fit the iPad but can be moved to the yellow tabs to fit a number of 7-inch tablets and the iPhone.
Tabzu Tabs: These little guys are the only cast components of our Tabzu, and we limited their size in order to use as little plastic as possible.
Our 4 tabs will secure your tablet perfectly, as demonstrated by a brave Leo in this test done over concrete.
Locking Handle: The magnetic locking handle holds your computer safely by using 4 super powerful neodymium magnets. They are small but very attractive, in a magnetic kind of way.
And that's our Tabzu. We hope you enjoyed our little presentation! Now, lets see what we can offer you.
What you will be getting:
Tabzu cover skin: You get a customized sticker that you can paste as a skin onto the front of your classic Tabzu. This process is "do it yourself." You line up your photo on our digital template, and we will send you a perfectly trimmed cover skin.
Classic Tabzu: Here is our CLASSIC Tabzu, in all its colors. You can choose from any of them, or you may prefer our prototype's faux-wood finish.
Premium Custom Tabzu: Due to our manufacturing method, we are able to customize the Tabzu with your own artwork or pictures so you can be as creative on the outside as you are on your tablet. Imagine walking around with a case that displays your product, business, artwork, comic or kickstarter campaign! Your graphics will actually become part of what holds it together. This is more then a skin. It is an integral part of its structure. It is a full custom job that will give you a unique Tabzu. Be sure to watch for our updates as we make these guys and feel free to ask us any questions.
Our 7 Inch Tablet Version is here!
What we want to accomplish with Kickstarter:
We need you because we believe in Tabzu and want to dedicate our time to streamline our production process, turning this into a sustainable business and bringing you the same quality we bring to movie making. We believe the Tabzu can be used to promote movies, video games, ebooks, artists, entertainers, new products and businesses. The same way people collected record covers and Trapper Keepers, we want them to collect Tabzu's and make this the future of tablet cases.
We spent all night waiting in line at the Palo Alto store and got the iPhone 5 a week ago, because it is slimmer it fits with our tabs, it is really a cool phone, you can actually see Martin on Forbes at:
He's 2 minutes in, the one with the green coat!
It's pretty light! Actually just about less then a pound, or the weight of a small novel.
Yes! We have fitted a little magnet at the right spot, imbeded inside one of the grabbing legs, when you close Tabzu the magnet comes into contact with the one inside the iPad and shuts it off.
We made a version for the keyboard, it is all explained in our updates. We are still working on the stylus.
Tabzu is made from our own composite of super strong, ultra-light, flexible matt-board, and a multi-layering system of vinyl that makes it water resistant and even stronger! These are materials we have used while making props and miniatures for movies. We are going to show you a little video demonstrating the strength of Tabzu very soon!
We are working on this now, we might have to make the Tabzu just a tiny bit wider, so we need some time to figure it out.
Yes we are! Please check our updates for details.
